  1. damn, you beat me too it. What a shoddy job they have done on it. Wall paper, bye eck
  2. I am glad you found it delicious. The goose on the cut near Avon Cliff is a lost sole since its partner died. Yipee a fox smelling support group. We are not alone. I wonder if there is a smilar group for badger smells?
  3. lovely photo. I am quite obsesed with identifying the smell of fox. I can smell it easily where as the GF cannot. What normally happens is we are on a nice walk and then I stop and say... "I can smell fox". GF "Where? Let me smell" Me "Right here, it smell of fox, its really pungent" GF "I can smell it, its just like garlic??" Me "No thats garlic, nevermind" Is this something that only men can smell, or do I have SuperNoseTM?

  6. Now is the time of year when there is an increase in users of the canal. Unfortunatly this means that there might be more un-desirables about. There were certainly lots of people at Warleigh weir this weekend, and I know that some of them got bored of walking home and borrowed bikes. Keep vigilant. Chris, I hope it was not off of your boat Tim
  7. I am thinking of complaining to them in charge about that boat. They are a bloody liability. If they sink... then I have no idea why
  8. It probably has been done to death. I used to get all angry and irked by fast boats. Now i put a second moring line at the back of the boat at 90 degrees to the other line to act as a spring. This tends to hold the boat in place better. Tim
  9. Plus one for the fender boat. Very friendly, boat based and professional. Tim
  10. Re the volt meter, only you can answer that one. To test isolate one or other battery banks and see which one it is connected to. Those dial volt and amp meters are not very accurate or precise. Tim
  11. First thing you need is a cassette loo. Gets coat from the peg
  12. Here is a link to a page that gives most of the basic information. I did not put in the diodes as he has done as I thought it would be unnecessary (please correct me) and I made a more water tight frame. cicky You really should be able to find out all the information on the web without splashing out on a course. Tim
  13. There were lots of tips in the Boat the Guy built. By this I mean, the way that Guy did it is not the best method*, so look at how he did it and discount it. *if he is happy with it then thats fine.
  14. Yes there is a small gap (2 to 3mm) becuase I was concerned that the expansion and contraction might fracture the cells. They are amazingly thin and brittle and I managed to break some just soldering them together.
  15. I have a cat and she gets along fine. Dear cat brought in a mouse which set up home in the ceiling, a little nipper soon sorted that out though. Here is a picture of cats and a rat as it seems you might not know which one you have? Cat Rat
  16. I have built a solar panel with a kit from ebay and so far it seems to be working ok. I will try to find some pictures of it. I built it with a mate mostly for the fun of it. We are intending to build another depending on the success of this one. It cost about £120/130 to build a 60 watt panel 70 for the cells 30 for the glass 15 for the metal 10 for the plastic backing plus some rivets and sealant and sundries I did not encapsulate the cells, I sandwiched them between glass and plastic sheet with a gap and sealed it up with silicon sealant. At the moment it produces about 2A which is a little less than I was expecting, but that might be because of the cell quality, poor soldering, reflection etc?

  18. Good idea, as I have finished painting for a while. Under those tarps are some much loved and/or historic boats. You can keep your high class living if you are prepared to judge people by their external appearances. ITs really irritating when confilicting posts can be found so easily!
  19. <RANT> There is at least 200m of 48hr moorings just after the pub with only one boat moored on. I agree that its not on staying over staying on the 24hr visitor mooring bits though. I really dont like it being called a slum though. There is soon/was a program on TV about some celebs staying in kibera nairobi. Now that is a slum, I suggest you watch that for real images of slums. The K&A will seem much better then. And while I am haveing a rant the Jon Rene does go past at quite a pace but it does not seem to crash with the same abandon as the Bab MAc </RANT>
  20. Another tip; All the pesky flies which will land on the paint are only a problem if you poke it when it is wet. Let the paint go off and then brush the flies off, which will leave the legs which in turn will disapear.
  21. The community between Bradford and Bath is second to none, I politely suggest that if you dont like it then exits can be found West at Bath and east at Bradford lock. Tim
  22. Have you tried one of these?
  23. I know of a cement boat that is used as a butty workshop thing. It was built in someones garden, without too much knowledge of boat building. It tows quite well backwards but the bow is very steep and tends to push water. Tim
  24. looks lovely, I hope that you can upload some more.
