I have a pond on the farm here and took these pictures. Some were taken yesterday, the rest a few days ago. Parent feeding its chick(s). We had 5 chicks, two died and three survived.

Thanks guys. Here is a close up of the keel hole (image 2). The red ant is for scale 😀. It looks like fibre glass? I have another tender (image 1) which is plastic moulded (SportsYak) on another of my ponds but the use I have for this fibre glass one is in a pond 1/2 mile distant:- saves porting the plastic one over rough land so worth repairing.

Good advice - I will go there later and have a good look for the presence of strands

I found this boat sitting abandoned in the long grass - I'm about to make a low offer (to the current landowner) to buy it as it will be good for maintenance tasks . Any tips how to repair the keel? I assume epoxy/glass fibre kit after rubbing down?

Slightly OT, We have 9kW here (26 panels). On the ground poles they are easy to clean so I spent some time giving them a good clean last summer only to see the kW being generated remained identical to the dusty state. In a way I was happy cos it meant I would not be fretting about cleaning the beggars.

How about 41 acres, a mile of river, 6 bedrooms, a 1 bedroom flat, and £8M change oh and an old canal in the grounds (not navigable) 😂

I bought a fair few acres of flood meadow (for wildlife) and entered into an overage for 20 years. There is zero chance of anyone ever getting permission so it was a benign clause really. The owner insisted on it or would not sell.

Robert Bill, a resident near us (Alton/Farley, Staffs - through which the Caldon Uttoxeter Branch ran through) was quite an inventor and held patents for various things - this one being to do with building of canal boats. Our local historian Hazel Mills found these papers very recently.
