  1. I fitted one 3 years ago, it runs very quiet both inside and outside. Ideal for immediate heat on those chilly mornings when you don't want to run the engine or light the fire
  2. The most interesting and important fact to come out of this programme was the new route from the Bridgewater via the Anderton Lift to the Wedgewood factory on the T&M. Also briefly via the Shroppie on the same trip. Really must buy the new version of Nicholsons.

    Leigh branch

Marina now almost ready for filling, all work appears to be on schedule. Photos taken today (01/03/2011) photos

    Leigh branch

Yes, that's the new entrance. The marina is situated exactly where the scrap Citroens used to be. The big building (it was a pub) has been demolished. The marina will be home to some 40 or so boats but BW do not envisage it being in use for at least another two years

The photograph is taken from the bridge, looking East towards Leigh. On the other side of the bridge (West) only a few yards away is the plastic sheeting used to stop the water.

    Leigh branch

Leigh Branch now de-watered at Plank Lane Swing Bridge to allow work for the new marina. Not open again until 3rd March or so. According to BW man at the scene this afternoon.
  7. I received an e-mailed copy of the forms yesterday and returned the completed ones, again by e-mail within a couple of hours. As said above the best days are already full (options C & D between 1st to 6th May). I don't quite understand this as I my original e-mail request to BW was on the 5th Jan. Phone calls and further e-mails to BW since then have informed me that the application forms were not available until the 18th Jan or so. I think the 12 or so boaters that got the show days must have been camping outside the Wigan office of BW.
  8. E-mail from Denise at Wigan states "Salthouse Dock will be closed from the 25th April 2011 through to the 13th May 2011 for the boat show"
  9. Hello Liam, presumably because of the ice. These were Mike Webb's words, not mine.
  10. Spoke to Mike Webb this morning (Bridgewater Canal Co.) The Aqueduct is still closed, as is the whole of the Bridgewater Canal. A survey will take place tomorrow (Friday 14th Jan) and if the ice has gone the Aqueduct mechanism will be tested. Repairs have been carried out but testing has been delayed due to the bad weather.
  11. I asked BW about booking the link for 28/29 April and was told that the new booking forms were not yet available. Perhaps we could organise something between us?? Link to Previous Post
  12. I wonder if anyone who intends to go to the Liverpool Boat Show (29April to 8May) might be interested in crossing the Mersey to Eastham (Mcr Ship Canal)? Probably on or around the 8th May. Possibly followed by a trip up the Ship Canal to Manchester? Just thinking about it at the moment!!
  13. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  14. Tim, I have now scanned the workshop manual and created a pdf file. Can you PM me your e-mail address and I will forward it to you. I don't know how to post a pdf file on here? Regards, John
  15. Might be plenty of space but sadly can only be used on wide canals. (Not L&L but Suez etc.)
  16. Tim, I think that what you have are regulators BJ and BLT. They will be the same settings (mechanical and electrical) as the standard 189A control board. If it is any help, I could scan the workshop manual and e-mail it to you. Alternatively, if you wish to renew the regulator, there are Solid State versions available from the Diesel train fraternity. Regards, John
  17. I think what you have is a Lucas designed AB172RL alternator originally intended for military use. Although I can't help with your opening question, I do have a full workshop manual for this unit, with internal wiring diagrams etc. You may be able to work something out from that. If you want a copy let me know and I will scan it and e-mail to you but as it is 40 pages, it may get after the weekend.
  18. Thanks. I thought I was being my usual Luddite self.
  19. Help! After trying to upload a picture to the gallery, I find that I now can not view any of the photo's posted there. I just keep getting the message "You have reached your bandwidth limit and can not view this image". I can't even get to the picture to delete it. Help needed please.

  22. Has anyone ever fitted a water temp gauge to an Isuzu 25? Mine just has an 'overheat' warning light and buzzer but I am never sure that it is working o/k. I wondered what size and value of sender I would need and what type of gauge. Durite maybe?
  23. It coud be done but the brackets are all wrong, does your engine not have twin (2 x 70amp) alternators?
