    We used to be foster carers. .Started the same way as you with a grandchild..be careful..we ended up doing it for years..with quite a lot more. Happy years..mostly. Different social workers..have different ideas. Just do what you have done at home..on the boat. Life jacket is a must..we also had to have a guard made for the fire.... And make sure the back deck was fully enclosed.

    As it happens Cotswoldman. A very responsible dog owner..as you would know if you knew me. Why do you have to ridicule people..because they are dog owners.     Dogs are inquisitive..mine given the chance would poke their noses in a boat..but as they are on leads..its unlikely to happen. Mind you if anyone hit my dog..however light..they would get it back with interest.Dont blame the dog..blame the owner for not having it on a lead.

    When we get frozen in..the boater next to us comes home from work at 11.30 every night and smashes the ice..and again at 7.30 am. We couldnt work out why..until we realised..we have never seen them empty a toilet..What can you do when you have to live next to them? Would prefer not to be woken every night..and not have their waste dumped in the cut..but to say anything would cause..bad feeling.

    We only have a small inverter. .350 on most of the time runs tv. .Sat box. .Laptop and charges 2mobiles..no prob. Just use the bigger inverter for Hoover and washing machine.

    I have the same laptop as you , and it runs great , on the maplins adaptor.
