  1. Maybe another Yorkshire lockdown is on the cards this year. Looks like the main route in/out closed already. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/24969-bridge-83-keadby-rail-drawbridge
  2. An old woman who I spoke to who had her new buy boat moved from West Stockwith to Thorne, said she was charged £600 by a professional boatmover, the journey at the time of year and Trent tides could be done in a day/2 days most. Which I thought was ridiculously high.
  3. Let’s just have a photo section and not one person’s ego, Do it, as this Thread has become Holiday snaps especially from @Naughty CalWho has never really done a canal but has spent her time wizzing around the Trent & Coastal. Please put on your canal photos, that’s’ the slow moving ones less than 4mph, not speeding ones on the Fossdyke as you were known for on a Friday Evening 👍😂
  4. Yes a photo section, as this thread has just turned into one mans personal crusade trying to be the longest thread ever and ever, “This time next year” with photos of today a year late. Maybe a good photo section, with the best ones voted for a Forum Calendar, a bit like the Country File yearly Calendar?🤷
  5. I don’t just put on photos for the sake of it unlike what seams to have happened to the thread. If I had a nice photo of Today’s Boating that I thought was good enough for other’s to appreciate I’d put it on, unlike you and the main poster with past holiday snaps. Or you can put your “Today’s or Tomorrow’s” boating pictures on? Oh forgot that’s all in the past now😂
  6. I’m not out on the boat today, but if anyone is out today and have some nice photo’s please post them today. Unlike yourself that puts your holiday snaps on from a few years ago👍
  7. What I say is start a Thread in the Heritage History section “What was nice on the Waterways then” and leave this on to today😂
  8. Maybe he or yourself should start a topic in the “History and Heritage” section where he and everyone who wishes, can put their photos of a bygone age and keep this Thread as intended of pleasing canal photos of today. I’m not bothered about support of my views, but if you look there hasn’t really been much support for this thread, mainly from @PeterScott and ex boaters, maybe people have got bored with it as their photos are lost in the mass postings of one member.
  9. Check who started it and read the reason why it was started. It was started to show nice “Today” photos, as in current date & time, I think the Poster wanted nice happy photos that are of the canals now, not old photos of 10 years ago. The Thread has been hijacked and basically the sole poster @PeterScott has made it quite boring. Maybe it should go to only what is nice on the canals today as of now/present not back in 1999-2023. Then more may contribute with nice photos. So lets get it back to current nice just today photos. A bit like most of the photos on here😂😂
  10. Do you want the surveyor to do a survey or just to have a look at a boat your thinking about buying? Have you put an offer in, paid a deposit?
  11. @PeterScott seems to have a faster way to get around the Canals and county than most. Maybe the Thread should be retitled “On this day in my time Machine” or “zipping around the Country in my McLaren Formula One car”😂 Any professional Photographer’s on here that can give him some tips on how to take a photo? 📸📸
  12. Sorry my mistake just re watched the Vlog 217Lts 3-4 weeks. Their boats seems to have had a lot of problems and new equipment fitted. Have a view, it doesn’t paint the best picture for electric boats: https://youtube.com/@NarrowboatLifeUnlocked?si=Ks1s38yQoJIN0z8y
  13. I wonder if they regret getting rid of their diesel boat for the electric, as on one Vlog they say they just can’t keep putting in over 200lts of diesel in every fortnight. Obviously this highlights the limitations of an electric boat for CCing most of the year. I wonder if they had a saving on the price to promote the boat on their Social Media platforms by the builder Oakhams, as they have a good following and we all know Bickerstaffe did well out of giving “Foxes afloat” a boat to use. It’s a shame they’re having issues with what should be a pleasant relaxing time for them as they come across as decent guys and are far more likeable then most Vloggers.
  14. Or a prime example of the boat owners picking the wrong type of boat to live on full time and continuous cruise? There’s a couple on Instagram, telling everyone they’re full time livaboards on their all electric boat, unfortunately they don’t understand that leaving the boat the beginning of November, putting it in a Marina and going home to return in April isn’t being full time livaboards continuous cruising.
  15. I’m sure they’ll have all the answers to everyone’s questions at Crick this year, but then again do boaters that pick up on the faults go or is it just people thinking about buying a boat that go these days and are quite clueless even after watching hours of Narrowboat Vloggers?
  16. As I said this looks more like an open day event, anyone seriously interested in buying an electric boat would be better off just going to Crick, where these people will be attendance along with more electric boat manufacturers, so more information available on the subject from a wider field.
  17. Myth😂 reality really as you know to have a good quality of life onboard you need a big diesel generator as well as sufficient solar. I wouldn’t call this an electric boat event gathering, but more like an Ortomarine open day, as I don’t see any other electric Narrowboat builders participating and having any involvement and there’s builders out there making significant advances in electric boat design. In all honesty if I was after an electric Narrowboat I would rather ask you for your advice and ideas. Even though I may not choose your builder due to the financial budget. But I know you’re carried out thorough research to what works. Even though you go on a bit, I would rather buy you a couple of beers and have an informative chat, then waste my money on tickets for this🍻👍
  18. Yes, I bet the Eco Boat sellers are praying for Sun Sun Sun, so to dispel the myth that you still need a diesel generator on an all electric boat to make it work 😂🌞🌞
  19. Hopefully it’ll be sunny that week, so the solar is working and topped up. Last thing they would want is rain and all the electric boats running their generators. Maybe they’ll be installing electric Bollards for the event?
  20. Yes lock is closed due to high river levels, you wont be able to pass until re opened by CaRT. But since it was yesterday your either through or still at Castleford.
  21. Here’s a boat for you, unfortunately not moving, not my cup of tea, maybe a Marmite boat. But they’re all loved by someone, thats what’s nice about boats👍
  22. Nothings moving, not even the water. Hopefully one day a boat will pass, I’ll put the same photo on this day 2025, 2026, 2027- - - 2050, so keep an eye on it to see if any boats appear in shot📸👍😂 I’d rather see one decent composed photo than 1000’s of random snaps though.
