  1. Thank you Bones, it didn't occur to me to try the Land Registry. I'll do that tomorrow, will be interesting.
  2. Thank you. I don't think that there would be any trouble proving that our mooring is a wharf, it's the old Cadbury wharf on the shroppie. I'm not sure we could get Premier foods to look into the deeds but as Birmingham has been there for over 10 years without paying a mooring charge I think they might already have set a precedent. I'll have to put my thinking cap on but I realise that we will probably have to pay in the end but the tone of the email they sent us demanding the money was very rude and it's peed me off!
  3. I know this is an old thread but I was interested to know if anyone can tell me where the moorings are in Rickmansworth (or anywhere else) that have had their L3 charge waived because of Historical considerations, Thanks.
  4. Wasn't Rigal up for sale for around 79K seems to have been reduced muchly http://narrowboats.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=304566
  5. We will come next year.
  6. Well be up in the car Saturday aft to say hello.
  7. Darley, Whitby and Scorpio passed us en route. We can't go on Birmingham due to work commitments sadly.
  8. I'm confused, there must be a duplicate thread about this, I posted on that one last night! We will be there with Birmingham, don't expect her tidy yet!
  9. I forgot to say that my friend Robert Jones is bringing his Mum Doreen she used to steer The Juno with her then husband Ted on the Cambourne 61 years ago, she is just great and has some wonderful tales to tell. Robert will correct me if I'm wrong but this might be the first Historic boat gathering she's been to.
  10. It will be lovely to meet you both, we can pick your brains as we are thinking of faithfully recreating the boat you knew in 1973! A long trip on Brum is a bit of a gamble at the mo' but we have an adventurous spirit!
  11. Derek and I will be there with Birmingham, we won't be looking at all smart as we have a long way to go with the restoration but we need some fun and an opportunity to get some advice! Looking forward to it immensely, let's pray for good weather.
  12. Here's another one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-HAND-PAINTED-NARROWBOAT-WATER-CAN-BUCKBY-CAN-CANAL-WARE-BARGE-WARE-/151033850990?pt=UK_Collectables_Nautical&hash=item232a51ac6e I'm not bidding, I've got enough now!
  13. Thanks for taking the time to reply, that would be nice for whoever buys it if that's the case...I suppose we'll never know for sure.
  14. Thank you, I was under the impression that it may have been quite old from the conversation I had, I only have the one because it was intended for the skip and the other was in a worse condition!
  15. I was given this door about 8 years ago as it had been hanging round the boatyard and they had no use for it, I was told that it was from an old Willow Wren Kearns boat which is probably true as it was their yard I got it from. ebay linky
  16. Any idea who painted this My link
  17. Yes, but it's bigger than any three gallon can I've owned before. I thought Bococks for the other two, that little one is tiny the pic makes it look bigger. The handle on the big one looks like a Lester can....anyhoo I love 'em! Your can is awesome!
  18. I am indeed, got a couple of bids in! I'm selling it because I bought a job lot of cans and other bit and bobs this week. The seller said that her mother bought them on the Stratford Canal in the 70's from a painter who lived in an unusual lock cottage with a round red roof! I'm thinking Preston Bagot??? Anyone here got a long enough memory to tell me anything more about the painter....please. I like your can Alan. This is part of my haul My link
  19. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  20. I like the brass bits, I'll get 'em polished up nicely!
  21. Thank you, I'm similarly pleased to have something by Mr Speight. I bought it because I like it not because I was hoping for it to be something rare, mebbe Phil will pop on at some time and let us know x
  22. I would cry with joy if that turned out to be true, the rim round the bottom of the bowl and the triangle over the handle are brass.
