  1. You can do things concurrently. For example, my father was - at the same time - an RAF pilot, flying instructor, gliding instructor, owner of a yacht, 3 classic motorbikes, a classic car and a WW2 era plane. In his 80s he still owns, restores and regularly goes out on his 3 motorbikes and in his classic car. My concerns would be the remaining thickness of the 8-6-4 shell and the BMC engine (know nothing about them). Otherwise a super looking, very useable boat.
  2. Virginia Currer Marine | Lady Elise – 50ft Traditional Stern Good shout - what a tidy looking boat for the money.
  3. Shaun, I'm sure you don't need this pointing out again but a NB with very little tumblehome can look unattractive. I'm not sure if there is a particular reason why your design features very upright cabin sides, or if that is just how it comes across in photos.
  4. I was thinking exactly the same thing!
  5. I can't recall if you are making use of recycled plastic - if you are this is something I would definitely promote as an important feature.
  6. I reported the rats to the council a few years back. The wheelie bins on the castle gardens moorings didn't have lids and they were quite literally swarming with large, energetic rats - so much so that the noise of them woke me up at night! It was quite alarming as I really didn't want them coming into the boat.
  7. Also, did you pay a deposit? If so there is a chance you will not get it back if you cannot show there is £x amount of work needed on the boat.
  8. Massive thank you to @MtB. Following your information we uninstalled the boiler and now have a gas-safe plumber booked in to install and commission it. Really appreciate your help. 😊

    Roof repaint

Does he add something to make it non-slip? Not sure I'd want to be on a roof painted in just a semi-gloss, but he is a boat painting expert (unlike me).
  10. I've finally worked out how to make a photo small enough to use! Happy to play the nurse but, be warned, you might feel a little prick! 😄👩‍⚕️💉
  11. Corrected and have given myself detention.
  12. And you would have a starring role 😄 😉
  13. Was that Shaun's boat that he has a thread about? Shame to see no tumblehome.
  14. In theory we only need it signing off, it has been fitted and tested. But we are really struggling to get anyone to do this - and your information explains why. Happy to take it off the wall if it means we can get things done correctly though.
  15. I feared that might be the case and thank you for clarifying that. In order to make it easier to get it commissioned would we be better taking it off the wall?
  16. Apologies that this is not boat-related. Is there a gas-safe engineer from the Lincoln area on here who would be available to commission a domestic gas boiler? It is already on the wall. It was unused and stored from a previous building project and we are now using it in my daughter's house.
  17. We were saying just the same. For instance we never knew about the 'boat graveyard' with the post-war concrete working boats. Cruised that stretch many times without a clue.
  18. I thought the same as Momac. Despite travelling that route numerous times I never realised the marina was on the other side. Every day's a school day ...

  20. I left my full set of Nicholsons on the boat when we sold it. I have really regretted it ever since as I used to make notes as we went along - nice places to moor etc and I so wish I had kept them for our next boat. 😢
  21. Not seen a boat on Rightmove before.
  22. We loved Chester too. Don't forget you can moor pretty much outside Chester zoo. A perfect day out with the family and one of the most heart-warming places to see conservation being carried out with such skill and care. The Waitrose had a drop-off and collect laundry service when we were there.
  23. I see. Yes I agree. I suppose there is no point starting to pay for a leisure mooring until you actually arrive, and the money that saves would more than offset the small extra cost of a CC licence.
  24. If he has already arranged his new leisure mooring (and can provide evidence of this) surely he should be able to get a standard home mooring licence ? What does it matter how long he takes to make the journey? No different from when we used to leave our home mooring in the spring for our travels over the next 3-4 months.
