I replaced some very gloomy leds, just the plug in bulb units not the fittings. Went for something slightly more powerful and they were too bright for me. I think efficiency has improved. Look at lumen output rather than wattage. Also cool or warm makes a massive difference. Would be good to try one first but then you would be stung with extra postage. I ended up buying a replacement set for the original replacements. Not a massive amount but I was only replacing 3 bulbs.
As above, I’ve had great led lights from bedazzled. The lumens per watt seem to have got a lot more efficient over the years and their bulbs are usually good for variable voltages, I think usually between around 10-30v, so can cope with fluctuations in your voltage. I’ve replaced older led lights with newer ones and got brighter lights for the same amps.
We’ve had ours for about 10 years. It’s hard to see what holds the handle in place but it just works and is solid as a rock. Pity they aren’t more generally available as stand alone we’ll built items.
Here’s one we have. No good as a hammer but the best poker we’ve ever had. About 12inches long. Solid metal round profile poker and a metal round spiral handle that’s always cool. Bought from a hardware shop in Cumbria.
I saw a first time lock user with a ratchet windlass. Not sure if it’s the same as you were looking at. The problem was the ratchet only worked one way at a time and had to be taken off what it was doing to change direction. It meant they couldn’t operate the mechanism locked one way to lift the paddle mechanism slightly to release the safety lock and then use it the other way under opposite lock to operate the paddle. Completely useless, unless I was missing something.
