  1. Aye that's what i'm hoping. I don't think i have much choice on the matter, as "proof of ownership" seems to be required by my finance company. Been a rough week and a bit waiting so far. Hopefully it all comes through last minute.
  2. Replies like these make me sorry i've put in my notice to move out hahaha... Guess that's a lesson learned.
  3. I knooow haha! I've put down the deposit and got the survey sorted. But am currently waiting on proof of ownership papers. Losing a lot of sleep and very very pissed off its taking so long. I'm superstitious... I'm afraid if I post pictures now then it'll all go to hell somehow haha. I will once I get the ownership proof!
  4. I know the boats at devises marina quite well and they are good people. If you feel comfortable you can PM me the boat and I can tell you what I might know about it having done plenty of inspections there recently. I've already found my boat so don't worry I won't buy it from under you haha.

I was under the impression all surveyors have get-out-of-jail-free clauses when you hire them?
  6. Hmm.. I'm going to be paying off my boat. I guess if i want to sell it in the future to finish off the loan i'm going to have a lot of suspicious looks haha...
  7. I'm confused, if a boat is under finance and you buy it, does it matter? the owner uses the money you pay them to pay the balance of the loan and pockets whatever he/she has paid off already? Or am i totally wrong here?
  8. Dissolving into a religious war in 3...2....1!
  9. Yup, its a rayburn 212s I believe. Definitely, deposit is going in on monday hopefully then i'll take a bunch and post them here.
  10. Ok, i think it is likely to be leaks, as the boat has been sitting in the marina for months not being used. Not sure if i should make another thread for this, but another issue i've found is that on the rayburn 212s installed, the fire door wont fully close. It goes 99.9% of the way closed but wont click in place. Does anyone here have a rayburn on their boat?
  11. Yeah it is, i'll have a good look and see if I can find any leaks. I'll have a look at the internals and see what I can find. Perhaps it is just condensation, since its in the washing machine room and the bathroom. God knows how i'm supposed to stop that though haha.
  12. Thanks! these are the vents it appears to have, it looks as though water could get through these quite easily, though I don't know the internals.
  13. Hi there! A few of you might have seen some of my other threads on here regarding looking for my first boat. I've now purchased one for a price i'm happy with and am starting to scope out some of the repairs I want to do when I move on. First and foremost i've noticed that the roof area around the mushroom vents are wet in the washing room at the rear, and also very wet/rotten in the bathroom. The rest of the vents throughout the boat appear fine upon inspection. I'm wondering what is the best way to fix this. Is it a matter of replacing the roof in that room? or could this be condensation causing the problem? Thanks for any and all advice!
  14. Big external antenna, decent router and a 3 unlimited data sim card. (counting the setup as a single thing)
  15. That makes sense when I think about it. Avoid spring/summer right?
  16. Got one coming now, cheers Got it coming, it is the same engine however the previous issue i believe was due to the filler cap seal being broken, as of replacement i have not lost any coolant. (yet) Got a guy coming to look at it tomorrow. Cheers!
  17. Hi all, i'm hoping to get some advice on here regarding a noise i've noticed on my BMC 1.8. I noticed a subtle mettle rattling when running the engine earlier today and on inspection saw the wheel for the water bump (where the belt goes) was wobbling slightly when running. I stopped the engine and had a physical inspection and felt a slight play in the wheel when rocking it with my hand. The wheel appears to have 4 bolts in it, when i applied torque with my socket set it felt fairly tight so i'm unsure if that is the problem or if I am going to over-toque them and break something. Does anyone know how I can tighten the wheel down and stop the noise/play? Thanks in advance for any and all feedback.
  18. Great, that makes sense to me. Cheers!
  19. In that case would the same potential controller frying happen with a fuse? i've heard from a few sources not to have the solar panels attached to the controller without the batteries connected.
  20. Off-topic perhaps, but it recommends me to put a DC breaker between my solar controller and batteries. In my head this sounds bad, as if the breaker trips, would it not disconnect the battery and possibly fry my controller being connected to the panels?
  21. I was talking to the guys at bimble solar about these and was told they would not work with the curved roof of a narrowboat. Is your roof curved, if so that would be great!
  22. This looks like exactly what I need, can I ask what you used to fix the panels to the roof rack? (being very brain lazy right now)
  23. Yep we got rails, this looks excellent. Car roof aye, an adjustable one yeah?
