    Rocking

If boat is rockin' don't bother knockin'!
  9. Had our pump out taken out a couple of years ago. Right from day one we had trouble emptying it, we had it modified with a second pump out port in the other side of the tank which improved matters of a bit until it started to sludge up. Then, inspite of being made of stainless steel a seam started corroding, we were chasing it with weld but when it started to go around a corner it was time to rip it out. I got a boatyard to remove the tank for me and as far as removing a PO tank is concerned it went fairly smoothly. I have been using a Porta Potty which has been better than the old system that didn't work as it should have done, if it did I may (or probably would) have kept it but if everything goes according to plan hopefully in the next few weeks I will fit a composting loo.

  12. The trouble with knocking is that a lot of steel boats is that you can kill your knuckles without making much (if any) noise. I tend to stand alongside and shout: "AHOY [boat name]!"

  16. I'm recording it so I can watch it on fast forward. That should get things moving!
  17. There's no pleasing some people, pass moored boats with a low revving vintage twin at idle and they still tell you to slow down!

  23. Gotta agree with bizzard. I worked in / ran the family business for 27 years, obviously in many ways it was easier when Dad as there. Having said that I did have a pretty good run for a few years after he left, for the first few years I actually made quite a bit more money...... Unfortunately It probably made me a little more complacent than I should have been, getting a good team together is one thing, keeping it together is even harder! One of the replacements turned out to be a tea-leaf, another was very disruptive, I didn't see the end of boom and bust in quite the same rose tinted light as Broon, when Dad got ill I decided to pull the plug and care for him instead. Best of luck if you do decide to go ahead though but I think you are going to have some graft on your hands!
