  1. Advice needed please if possible. When im running my boat engine to charge the batteries its flashing up with the battery empty (but sometimes shows its charging). Although when my engines running my lights/usb ect work, but once engines off there is little power and my 12v fridge isnt staying on. Has anyone any ideas what i can look at before i start spending money for someone to come and look at it 🤣 #noviceboater
  2. Alone but if i was to do the locks i would hopefully have a pal with me, dont fancy sinking the boat haha ?
  3. Im hoping to move into my narrowboat in summer and i need a book to read about the basics living in a narrowboat, locks, filling water, problems etc etc. I know absolutely nothing about living aboard so any book recommendations would be more than welcome or anything else that helped fellow boaters. Thankyou
  4. Anyone know anywhere that sells really small sofa beds for my narrowboat? I can't find anything suitable sized online. Can someone point me in the right direction, i dont want to pay £1k for a sofa bed, thats too expensive and im on a budget.
  5. Thank you i have worded my question better this time around lol. i dont know how to delete my previous post which was confusing the hell out of me and everybody else lol
  6. Hello guys We will be hopefully moving onto our narrow boat by April 2020 at Adlington , we have a mooring already but the decking is looking dangerous for us to walk on, we already have poles erect in the water but the jetty/decking needs replacing. Do people do this kind of thing as a job? if so does anyone know an estimate of the cost? or someone i can call and ask for a quote? Thanks boaters for listening to my constant (daft) questions Mary
  7. im all new to this, as you can tell. i will try and word the question abit better. thanks

  9. Hello guys We will be hopefully moving onto our narrow boat by April 2020, we have a mooring already but the deck (on land jetty) is looking dangerous for us to walk on, we already have poles erect in the water but the jetty bit could do with replacing. Do people do this kind of thing as a job? if so does anyone know an estimate of the cost? or someone i can call and ask for a quote? Thanks boaters for listening to my constant (daft) questions Mary
  10. Hi Guys Could anyone advise me on the best place to buy a 12v Fridge. Im looking on the internet and they are coming out between £500-£1500. Its for an under counter fridge. As we will be living aboard i want a fridge bigger than 50ltr because i eat a lot haha. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mary
  11. Hi As im sure you are aware i am a novice about narrowboats so i am asking every question i can, even if i come across as dopey haha. I have drawn up floor plans for my 50ft narrowboat and as it is only 1870mm wide i am fitting the kitchen with right side 600 deep base units and left side 500 deep. Could anyone advise me where to get slimline base units from? Thanks Mary
  12. This is where we are now, we stayed with the same mooring because it’s wonderful. Well it will be once it’s off Botany Bay boat yard ?
  13. Very helpful Tony. Thank you kindly ?
