  3. MC4 has MC4 solar connectors where the solar panels connect to the MPPT controller and the Tr is more standard screw terminal.

  7. from ones i've seen, not very well... ok if you're above it standing on wooden deck boards though....

  9. very true, but its much easier to find a secure location for a small MPPT controller than your batteries.... depends on the type... Victron jobbies use bluetooth so not really an issue..
  10. There's the security aspect also.... don't want anyone popping up the boards and acquiring it!

  18. Your paint combination/colour looks very much like ours, which are Donegal Green and Bounty Red from International Paints. I hope its not though as these are no longer available.... just checked again and both seem to be on Midland Chandlers site..... maybe they are not discontinued!!
  19. Maybe its the cynic in me but I've heard so much 'we're gonna spend squillions' on x/y/z and it usually falls flat... I'm now of the mindset in looking back and saying 'that was well spent' ...
  20. Thanks for the re-assurance it probably wont sink if i do this.... job booked!
  21. Thanks for that...... did you feel confident doing it? i'm very wary about the implications if the seal failed .....
  22. Yes I'll be cleaning up the terminals and fitting a new fuse holder - possibly master switch and cable also depending on what i find!
  23. Hi All Moving to the front of the boat next to continue my quest to treat rust and tidy up the boats compartments. Engine bay and both rear lockers now done so now to the bow thruster compartment. It has rust on the floor which I'd like to get at and treat/paint but room is not great. I can take out the battery easily enough and ideally it would be good to take out the Bow Thruster itself to allow access as the floor goes under the gas locker area. Reading the Vetus literature it *appears* simple enough just removing the four Allen bolts.... but. As the chamber is dry and always has been is it crazy to do this unnecessarily? Am i risking causing problems by doing this, or is the seal usually pretty robust? thanks as ever for the valued opinions...!
