  5. Yes the RSPCA do look after wildlife https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/wildlife It maybe the ducks have something that is contagious. Doesn't do any harm having an online chat http://ask.rspca.org.uk/rspca/bot.htm?isJSEnabled=1&businessArea=Root.PUB Editing to say the link is a sort of Q&A - not a live chat. There must be a tel number somewhere

  8. Thanks Richard - found this page... http://www.solihull.camra.org.uk/viewnode.php?id=40722 Including 'Ye Olde New Inn' the pub's had many guises. I expected 'Tom' to be a memorable character who was a woodcutter living in the wood!
  9. Doesn't matter how the Marchioness disaster happened, the boat was sunk on the Thames with desperate tragic results! At the time I posted; I understood that a party boat had sunk on the Thames - had no more information than that! I posted in good faith!
  10. Wow, hope all got off safely! Overtones of the Marchioness disaster.
  11. Not sure what you mean about 'metered option'? If you want pay-as-you-go then I guess you'll need to change your contract. Clicking http://add-on.ee.co.uk/status will show up how much you've used, if you've used up your GBs you'll be given an option to purchase more. For backup we've got GBs on the mobile phone, if my laptop is using the mobile GBs the same link above will show mobile usage status. Some people have their camera, laptop configured to send the image/data to icloud for storage. Therefore your quota can soon run out, especially if you like snapping pics a lot. Thank you Rich for the tip, brilliant, when we get back to Nuneaton we'll call into the EE shop. Think our dongle is faulty, it's not recharging like it should, we've tried different usbs on laptops, tablets, and via a usb/3-pin without great success. Strangely when we got the dongle it didn't have a charger with it. The huge Win-10 upgrade could have been the problem. It was pain in other ways too as I had to re enter serial numbers of purchased software (yes, I know I should keep these details in a safe place)! Thanks all for helping

  14. Didn't realise there was a recent post added about this subject. Moderators, I don't mind if you want to merge this post. Yes I noticed there was a big one about 4 weeks ago, just when we ran out of last month's GBs. There's been a couple this month, including one last night, though I'm unsure how GB heavy they were. We've both got Win 10 laptops, and a Google phone which has been very economical with GB.

  16. Our contract for 32GB (monthly allowance) of broadband started with EE in August this year. Last month we ran out of broadband 10 days before the month was out. We scratched heads thinking how we could have used so much, but decided to keep an eye on our consumption this month. As you can see with the screen dump of our account, we have 8 days to go before our 'month' is up and we've got 25GB left (unless I'm reading the info wrong). We've not consciously used broadband any differently. Though perhaps we've streamed the TV more this month being out and about on the cut. The only difference is that we've been out of the marina for (about) the last 2 weeks! So with my cynical head on, I'm wondering if someone had managed to hack into our broadband in the marina, or if EE is at fault? I have seen postings on here where people have been surprised how quickly their broadband has run out.

  18. Thanks for that Tim, they already are listed. http://www.dogbuddypubs.com/listing/tom-o-the-wood/ Love the comments.
  19. It was brilliant! Met David and his good lady who helped us down the locks, very quickly we got a sort of system going. We got to the bottom lock and the heavens opened, we all got drowned! It was a quick mooring and a retreat into the cabin for a change of clothes! A couple of whisky Macs were very welcome Had a coffee with the ladies in the café before we descended. Sobering to see flowers at one of the lock gates! Thank you David for your help!
  20. Yes, I agree there. At Tom O'the Woods we ate in the conservatory, we could also have ate in the bar, but not in the area they called the 'restaurant'. Which is absolutely fair enough. Each to their own of course, like noisy children, I wouldn't assume everyone loves my dog/child like I do, therefore I expect my dog to behave in company.
  21. Feel so sad for you Laurie and Peter! {{{{ joke}}}}
  22. Great! Thanks Dave, hope to see you later. As John B suggested, we'll prob have breakfast at the cafe. Our boat's 'Cyan'. Thanks John B for your great suggestions! Will definitely be taking a stroll around Warwick

  24. Yes Richard, your boats here, safe and sound! Passed it walking the dog tonight. The spot maybe damp, but what a view from the top lock, looking down the flight! A lovely spot. Had visions of someone banging on the deck door to evict us around midnight! I hate parking the car in an 'illegal' space too, John and I have had many arguments about his parking, even when the bumper is barely over the line. Thanks Nick, really looking forward to the trip, weather forecast says the outlook is picking up! Thanks for the tip about using just one paddle. There's a notice that says to wait for another boat to double up, itho' the canal appears quiet, so hope we don't have to wait so long.
