  8. Looking at the evaporitive coolers I see you can add ice packs into the water tank on hot days to help produce a cooler flow of air and costing under £60 its a no brainier thank you guys for your advise
  9. We have similar one for my wife’s bulldog as he suffers from heat so I reckon your right one of them and as others have suggested a cooler is far better option to any air con and cheaper to buy and run. ?
  10. The boats I viewed had cream and the other a light grey roof and to be fair an exceptional hot day so that prompted my question on keeping the dogs cool
  11. Thanks what make model is it so I can look it up please... anything that she can lay in front of to keep cooler is what I’m needing
  12. Thanks for your input I was only asking to see how others kept their dogs cool and fans was obviously on my consideration list so will possibly be going down that route. I had not planned on leaving her on the boat for long periods but when I need to food shop etc I just want to ensure best environment for her. My dogs come to work with me so not left on their own much.
  13. I’m not intending locking my dog in a boat I’m simply asking if Mobil air con is an option in helping keep her cool. The boats I visited today some did have windows closed as were on a sales pontoon but one was being lived on and owner had all windows open and stern doors too but it was very warm indeed and yes I know it’s a hot day so just got me wondering how others keep their older dogs cool on days like today
  14. I have been looking at mobile air con units and they state low power useage it’s saying input 1.12kw so are you saying that’s high???
  15. Looking at a few widebeam boats today with vies to buying and noticed all were very warm indeed and as I have an old Labrador that would stay on boat I was wondering about adding a mobile air con unit ... there will be plenty of solar on roof to run it but just wondered if anyone else have advise on air con please.
  16. Hi mate not sure if you can remember me you invited us to view your boat a couple of years ago as we were considering a widebeam. Things have changed and looks like I will soon be buying a widebeam for me and my dog so might be after some help and advice in future if that’s ok? Kind regards Martin
  17. Hi I’m looking to purchase a widebeam soon and have looked at a few and I intend living in a marina for first year whilst doing short trips out and getting used to the boat and fitting solar before going constant cruising. This will be a single crew experience so any guidance please very welcome . Thanks Martin

  19. Hi guys what a shambles Bluewater Boats are? I was fed endless Bulls..t at Crick and strangley enough I said to my wife as I was walking away I would never buy a boat off him as he had a handshake like a limp lettuce and his whole sales pitch was that of a secondhand car salesman. I am so glad I am apart of this informative forum and I will not be have a wide beam built by them.my heart goes out to you guys who have been treated like s..t by this company...we all want our dreamboat to be special and built the way we want it..not to be palmed off with the builders version of our dream. I have removed them from my list of possible builders and they are now on my never in a month of Sunday's list.
  20. Well for what it's worth my wife and I have a love of this countries waterways....we are not snobs....don't have endless funds and we like narrowboats (to look at) but have no desire to spend our lives on the water living on a narrowboat .we want and enjoy space and comfort and despite all the nb owners negative views on wbs we will be moving onto one in the not too distant future. We accept a wb has restrictions on the waterways and that's fine there's still plenty for us to enjoy and once we have done what we can in the uk we can always go into Europe so there's a bonus. I would be happy to pay more in license fees based on size it's no different to having to pay a fortune in road tax and insurance for owning a 350z Nissan which only goes on the road less than 700 miles a year when my friend pays little tax etc on his mini which travels over 15000 miles a year ...the way I see it if living on a narrowboat ticks all your boxes then it's right for you if it doesn't (as in our case) then why compromise when you can have a wb built which offers all you desire.one last observation regards comments against wbs on this forum ...unless I've missed it I have yet to see a wb owner constantly spouting off negative views on narrowboat ownership. There will be fantastic narrowboat owners out on the waterways I'm sure but I bet there's a good number of them who fellow nb owners give a very wide berth and likewise there will be good and bad wb owners on the water too. I could be wrong but is it the wb itself people have issues with or their misconception of the wb owners in general?
  21. Makes you wonder why was it built that way? Was they on a tight budget or did the builder convince them it was a good style to go for? And if so why? I guess only the owners will have the answers and they must have been happy to part with a good wedge of cash for it. I wish them luck and hope their wide beam is all they want it to be.
