Yer i get that overthinking thing, but for £80 i would rather pay for a piece of mind knowing i was not relying in some 2 bob bit of cut cost Bilge Pump fitted 8 years ago by the boat builder hoping to make an extra £10 ner. The way i see an £80 water pump is its £80, if i can save someone elses boat while they are panicking about loosing their home then sure be it i will be their with my dodgy £80 Bilge Pump and knee hi in water passing Buckets with the rest of them. I suppose its like carring a tool kit its not always their for your own boat but many for someone who may end up needing a lend. i would really be upset seeing someone's boat sink and see them upsett. - i am a weirdo.

I 100% agree and thats what i do too.

My Sister lives with her Partner and their house is worth over 800 thousand and they both have very well paid jobs, My sister is down to earth and in no way a Snob however her Partner is a huge Snob even though they share the same House/Cars ect.... Her Partner is always boasting what he has and always shuvs the latest expensive gadget and gizmo's into my face, we all joke about the way he shows off. His next new Snoby buy is a Porche to pose and boast in, i think he is very happy with who he is and is full of himself to no end. Their is nothing qeurer than folk. i pull up my pants and tighten the bailing twine.

Hi Sea Dog Good advice thanks, i am planning to do a 2 day boat handling course and to hire a Boat after that, i have found somewhere local that does this. Thinking about this now its just popped into my head that they may not offer this towards the end of the year. ( i better check this out ) I would hate to duff the corners in on a boat that would be devastating.

Well you see I am not really happy with who I am and I like to moan about them stuck up gits with big drives and posh gates. Bugger me pants just fell down and I trod in some sh1t that a posh lady with a pink Poodle did. I must get some new Bailing Twine for these pants.

I would be worried about the germs that can not be filtered out even though the filtered water may look clear. From what ive been reading on the interent some people may be dumping their urine and no 2's directly into the canal. interesting thread. I think you got them the wrong way around.

Their are many Snobs around and it does not make anyone a snob living in a nice house, its more the behavour of the person. I absoloutely hate Snobs and would rather chat to someone skint and down to earth who aprreciates real life.

After reading this thread that sounds more than reasonable, ASB work's both ways and maybe that has not been a thought about by the House Holder.

i get where you are coming from, I get that, but it would be nice to have something onboard even though i would have a newish Narrowboat and maintain it. I guess its just the fear of having so much money into a one time dream I found an old lister LR1 today on Ebay in a frame with an Alternator Bracket in place, i am tempted to buy it as a geny. Maybe i need to get my prioriry's right and put the Narrowboat first. Chug chug pop haha

I dont own a Boat just yet but i would like to be prepared for the worst for a major stern gland leak orif any other part of the boat sprung water our of the blue. Can someone please recomend a decent 12v lph water pump that can hold its own and deal with a reasonable leak? ive looked on Amazon.uk and their is one for £94 i think it was 1500 lph but i cant post the link at the moment.

I do think the Brewer Upper should always be in charge of the Vessel after all what is a Vessel without sufficient lubrication in all the right spot's
