This thread has completely lost the plot, if you ever spent some time on the streets or working in a Hostel you would realise most of the people who sleep rough are Born British not mostly imigrants. Their has been too much blame given to imigration, the thread was about homeless people sleeping rough on the canals. I slept on the streets and talked with other street sleepers they are some of the most decent people you could ever chat to. Anyone of you could end up on the streets at any time. Personally i thought posting the picture of a rough sleeper was a bit of an invasion of his right of privacy, if someone took a picture of you in that situation would you like it plastered all over the internet......................... people are too judgemental. it makes me want to puke.

But its not all down to housing stock, a lot of people on the streets are their because of Mental Health issues / Substance Missuse or a Combinatoin of both. Society lets people like this down, someone i know recently took their life after being found fit for work when they were very ill, they stopped their Housing Benefit and they were evicted into Homlessness. No ESA = No Housing Benefit for those who are too ill to work with the above problems Mtb The Welfare System forces people onto the street - its not all about how many houses are available. They want to cut the Benifits Bill, and they dont mind stopping anyones Benefits even if they are really unwell. Their Targets come first % Look how many squadies are on the streets with PTSD, its still not seen as serious enough to qualify for ESA & Housing Benefit even today. Sorry everyone i will make sure i stop talking about MH issues on this Forum from now on

Ive have decided i am going to stop seeing my social worker and just go for a leasure mooring its simpler. I am due to be discharged anyhow, so i will tell her tomorow. woohoo

How come homeless threads always turn to Immigrants. everytime lol

Nothing is written in stone yet, however if i move to my new location i would come under another NHS Mental Health Services. Who knows i may end up with a leasure mooring instead if i can do that and keep my Social Worker all the better. Thanks Mac

Thanks BilgePump, weve spoken to a few Marina's about our plans but obviously we will have to be days away from getting the boat before we can find out which Marina is available. I dont think its not the best time of year to buy a boat with winter closures coming up and some boaters heading into the Marina's.

Most Pork Pies are gross, like fatty parcels with little grey brains. A lot of Steak Pies have Veins in them - thats a put off for sure. Meat and Potatoe Pies with Brown Sauce smothered on top are a Winner - yummy yum yum.

Thanks everyone and magnetman i am an old git lol I guess i could practice alone while my dads onboard just until i get some confidence, to be honest i expected a lot of you to say no thats a crazy idea doing the locks alone. I will be on the Shropshire Canal and Cheshire Ring mostly. I know i might look a bit daft but i was planning to wear a kayaking life jacket when doing the locks on my own.
