There are a pair of matching circular fittings under bridge 95 at Braunston. It is the turn over bridge just before the puddle banks. It also has slots for stop planks and a set of planks. Any idea what these metal fittings did or still do? Cheers Graham

Interesting navigation restriction on the Northern Oxford. They're rebuilding Bridge 84 which is on the part used by widebeams. It says "Once scaffold is erected, single passage of boats only under the bridge will be possible." This seems to imply the expect two boats ( or more) to go through the bridge simultaneously. Received two emails from C&RT today. 1) Fallen tree between Braunston Top lock and the tunnel, wide boats advised not to navigate dated today. 2) Wide beam passage booked through the tunnel for tomorrow. Cheers Graham
