  1. May I offer my apologies I should not have posted my thoughts on a public forum
  2. Just pondering on how a boat this size can vanish and wondering if anyone knows how similar to Que Sera Sera this boat might be? Could whoever took took her have taken this one as an upgrade? Who really would know if someone has a legit number and name and just transfers both onto a newer boat, repaint, cover the back (pram hood?) move to a different marina. Is this possible? edit to add missing e

  4. American and Japanese mostly
  5. I think you are hankering after a holiday in Venice
  6. I've been told there are terrapins in the Nottm/Beeston canal somewhere near Boots but I've never seen one. If it's true I'm a bit worried about them with all the construction work going on around there though I suppose they would have moved to a quieter spot when the diggers arrived

  9. We tried to always make car journeys treats, visit to grandma for spoiling or nice new walk, occasional visits to vet always followed by the pet shop next door where he was allowed to chose his own chew (he always chose a pigs ear). The only thing he didn't like was having to wear his seat belt. half way back from the seaside one day doing about 40mph I was astonished to see the dogs head appear in the wing mirror, pulled up asap and found he had not only worked out how to undo the seat belt but had also managed to stand on the window switch. Not sure that was deliberately done but he was a very bright dog.
  10. To give an update to the saga (why is nothing ever simple?) A clip was ordered from Lincs Marine Services but after a week or two it became obvious it was not going to materialize so O/H ordered one from an Amazon partner in Japan. It arrived a few days later and is a genuine Yamaha part. Fitted to the boat in minutes and we are sailing again. The part is very slightly longer than the broken one but is fine. If LMS ever get back to us we will have a spare.
  11. Is it only me that saw the title and looked to see if Bizzard had replied?
  12. When we bought a new build new house we took our dog to the building site every night so he got used to being there and always took him on a new walk nearby. As it's on the edge of town there are numerous dog walks on the doorstep. I always put on my most enthusiastic voice " new walkies!" so he only associated going there with something good for him. He settled straight away when we moved in. All dogs are different but I'm sure making him comfortable and familiar with the surroundings and seeing it as a treat to go there helped. You are right to potter about seeming unconcerned so he picks up a calm not an anxious vibe.
  13. It's good that you felt able to reach out when you needed someone to talk to. This is when the virtual community is at it's best, no-one would call up their friends in person in the middle of the night and ask if they were awake but there is usually someone online who will respond. It's easier to be open about how you are feeling with a stranger too as there won't be any awkward moments next time you meet where neither of you knows quite what to say. May I add my sympathy for your loss

  15. A temp repair has been effected with superglue and when he had freed his fingers from the engine it was found to work so we managed a gentle potter up the canal last night. Waiting now for the spare to arrive so we can go proper boating again. Many thanks for the help given

  17. There has been plenty of beer splashed over her since the name change
  18. Right we're getting somewhere now, it's the other end that we need but thanks for the link Watersnail Edit to add update Lincs Marine are ordering a clip for us as it needs to come from Holland due to the age of the outboard. If we manage to source one locally this will be handy to keep as a spare. Correct term is: Carb connector - throttle linkage (I believe)
  19. I think that's it, it's white (not that colour matters) about 2cm long with a sort of a cup shape on one end. Looks like it had been fractured for some time. Luckily it gave way whist we were leaving our berth and not on the river. Thanks for the link
  20. We had a lovely family day out when we re-named our boat. I googled for traditions and ideas then wrote a short speech that involved several tings on the bell to denote a toast. We moored up in a quiet spot and 2 bottles of champers later we were on our merry way. A small amount of champers was poured on the bow in place of the bottle smashing. All good fun
  21. Thanks X Alan W, we're hoping it might be a common part. O/H is going on the hunt for one today. Fingers crossed that somewhere local will have one though it wouldn't altogether surprise me if he came home with a new (maybe re-conditioned) outboard instead
  22. Thanks Markhez I have a photo but cannot attach it (may be a work thing) if we can't work it out from your link I'll try to post photo tonight
  23. It's remote, I'll try and get a photo. I'm at work and hubby has the clip. Thanks for trying to help us
