  1. I decided Vidar was too big for my requirements but was still seriously tempted. I am glad that you are getting so much pleasure out there Have you repainted? Edited to add - there is always lots more to do lol
  2. Was Vidar for sale at Gayton marina? If so I also looked at her - she is a lovely boat. I am glad things are working so well for you, it is always to hear positive stories.

  7. That is partly my concern, along with a very old fashioned upbringing that means I wouldn't feel comfortable living on a boat if I suspect the previous owner didn't receive their money. Just a personal quirk regardless of legalities. If by some miracle the funds for the boat become available I might need to try to contact the seller personally. Though I do quite like the idea of paying the broker their fees etc and the vendor separately their share of the money.
  8. Nope, fully aware that it is probably around the same. Mind you renting around here is absurdly expensive so maybe more accurate to say as expensive as my mortgage but maybe cheaper than renting. Maybe I should consider renting my flat out instead of selling?
  9. I guess my concern is if I buy through a brokerage, I pay and take the boat but they don't pass the money on can the seller claim the boat is still theirs? In a way I can't help but feel that a sale is not properly complete until the vendor has the cash. edited for poor grammar
  10. Have to admit that I am now concerned. I have been purposefully looking at boats through brokerage as I have had the impression that my money would be safer than just popping onto ebay and making a bid. Am now beginning to wonder as to how to buy a boat safely.
  11. I am also playing with: Why do you want to live on a boat? No choice mate, too old for a mortgage and can't afford to rent around here so got to make the best of a bad thing <sigh> Really really looking forward to getting out there!
  12. oh no, I have my eye on one of the boats there. Hope those who are owed money get what they are due with no problems.
  13. Glad to see older cats managing to adapt to life on board. Mine will definitely be coming with me and as he seems more attached to me than to places I am hopeful all will be fine. Well, when I say he is attached to me rather than a place in reality he is simply attached to the only person who has ever fed him in his life. No point in getting big headed and thinking I am special in any way lol
