  1. Thanks :-) We've now found out what the noise was, it was the uxter? plate area of the weed hatch and is all sorted now. thanks for the replies
  2. Hello, We have a noise comming from the engine compartment, it only occurs when under load and only at approx 1300rpm, it has only appeared after our first 50hr service (Beta 43) . It has been suggested that there maybe something around the prop causing the noise, prop and shaft checked all clear. I was hoping to be able to load an mp4 clip I have with the sound but cannot. The sound was not present before the service, but on the first outing the day after service was immediately audible. It sounds like a vibrating/knocking noise. Thanks in advance
  3. Belling do an LPG gas single cavity oven with FSD http://www.belling.co.uk/products/cooking/built-in-ovens/xou60lpg/ But not seen any with a hob above, you could look into a separate hob if the fitting allowed.
  4. I think the new regs are either comming or could be in where the flue needs to be twin wall, you might like to check that first.

  6. Yep, we know the bit about the red, but we have a bit of red for coach lines and the top rail areas, the rest is cream and blue, and we are using Awlgrip/Awlcraft paints. Thank you
  7. Thank you Ray I'm not expecting to prevent every scratch, I'm more interested in keeping the quality and depth of the colours, with the help of either lacquer/polish/wax or a combination, it sounds like the lacquered top coat is working for you :-)
  8. Hello a paint question for you all please, we are in process with a new build, the paintwork is just being applied. Has anyone here had any paint protection applied after the top coat, either as a clear varnish or along the lines as used on cars. Mainly to help protect colour and help prevent deterioration from the elements etc. I'd be interested to here your experience and if you though it is worth the cost. Thank you.

  10. Hello we have a calorifier in the back cupboard, above this is space for coats etc, we ideally want a radiator in the bottom part but space is limited due to the calorifier. We have a webasto heater and are wondering if it is possible to use the header tank to act as a radiator instead of fitting one in this space?
  11. Thank you Old Goat and dor. We thought we might need something additional, I'm guessing without another form of heating the cupboard would not get warm at all.
  12. Is there any/enough warmth from a vertical calorifier installed in the back cabin of a boat to a.) keep some warmth within the locker and b.) if so is it useful enough warmth for drying off wet weather gear? Or are they so well insulated nowadays that you wouldn't notice? Thank you
  13. We have gone with Bluewater for our narrow boat build. We have visited the boatyard (and others) on several occasions during open days and alike, looked at the build quality over a number of years and compared joinery etc. with other builders, have been impressed with the workmanship at all stages of build. We also read the negative stories within this forum and decided not to make a decision based on that alone, but to take them in context with what we had seen and been told by other owners. Take the opportunity to speak to customers that have had boats built by your shortlist builders, we did and found that was a great way to find out unbiased opinions, our experience so far is very positive. My advice is to know what you want and research as much as possible, so you know a little of what you will be talking about if you don't already, this forum has a great source of material for that. Much appreciated Keith M for neatly summarising the choices given your experience; on-line research has shown us that any DC voltage equipment we require can be had in a choice of 12v or 24v or even dual 12/24v selectable. The 12v LED lighting by Chewbacka is well considered and the engine will have its own starter battery and engine driven alternator so should not be an issue I believe. A 24v system may not be cheap but as always you get what you pay for and as it’s a new build narrow boat over 60ft we’d rather do it right first time for us, without regrets. All these excellent posts are helping with our decision making.

  16. Thank you catweasel. I think it may come down to the overall draw on the batteries my understanding is that this would be less on the 24v system.

Hello, I'd like some advice please about the benefits (or other) of using either a 12v system or 24v, we are looking into the options of both, we know 12v is widely used but 24v appliances etc. are becoming more available. Any advice greatly appreciated, this will be for a new boat build, we want to have explored both options before we get to the detail with the boat builder so we know what we are talking about. ta muchly.
