  1. Hello, Can anyone advise? I am looking at wide beams. Has anyone got any experience of Burscough Boats as a reputable boat builder (or not)? Many thanks, Louise
  2. Hi there, Does anyone know how important it is that new steel is shot blasted before 2-pack paint is applied? We are looking in to a new-build and have been informed of the potential for mill-scale to cause bubbles as it lifts away from the steel (as steel expands/contracts) thus lifting away the paint too. Any informed opinions on this much appreciated. Many thanks, Louise
  3. Really useful info thank you all. Perhaps there is no perfect builder... Any other recommendations much appreciated!
  4. Hi all, Has anyone had a boat built by Colecraft or Bluewater (wide beam)? I'm looking in to the process and, given it's a lot of money to spend, am trying to make an informed decision about which of the two companies to go with. Thoughts much appreciated. Many thanks, Louise
  5. Hi Ken, I realise your post re music producing on board was a few years back and prior to you buying a boat but I wonder if you could advise? I've been on a live aboard for a few years and need to sort out a music studio. I'd rather work from home but have found even running Pro Tools without an interface rinses my batteries in a couple of hours. My set-up is Macbook Pro, USB powered interface and small Genelec monitors, plus ext hard drives. I have 120watt solar. I'm an ex-CCer, now with mooring but no electric hook up. So my question is how have you got on and can you advise? Like you I would be looking at full days / nights working. Many thanks, Louise
  6. Howdy, just wondering what people's view on having an inverter (sine wave 1500w for instance) on a liveaboard might be? Mine has just blown and I've been doing okay on the 12v system, not using my few high-powered pieces of equip. I've been told an inverter can chew up energy all on its own. Anyone else gone through this conundrum and come out the other end pleased with their decision? I'd be interested to hear. My little luxuries include a hoover and a washing machine - I know, I know! but they came with the boat when I bought it. Of course I can always buy a hand-hoover and twin-tub for 12v system and am therefore deciding on which way to go. Thoughts most welcome. (I'm not connected to any source of electric - constant cruiser - boating, that is). Thanks, Louise
