You are unbelievable, I have done nothing but try to help regarding this incident since first thing this morning, I am not looking to derail,only help to prevent this happening again. You only had to confirm the most basic of detail, location would do. End of conversation.

I agree with Alan, could you please tell me if this incident took place on the Macc/Upper Peak Forest Canal. If so then it is likely the same vessel involved in an incident here at my marina at about 0230hrs this morning, if not then I will drop out of the conversation and pursue this as a separate incident.

GreenDuck if your friend is concerned regarding his and his boats future safety, please PM me and confirm the boat and/or location and I will take this further and I will be quite happy to inform them that I intend to escalate the matter. I would be interested in confirming the name, details and location of this 'pub boat'. An incident occurred where I am moored at approximately 0230hrs this morning and I can take no further action until I am sure that this is the same boat/skipper who may have been involved in this incident possibly on transit to the marina.

New Mills Marina provides full services all year round, that is diesel (currently 61 ppl), pump out, laundry facilities, water, coal, kindling, showers, full and temporary moorings, all facilities are provided for non moorers. Speak to Pete or Heather the marina caretakers, very approachable, at least they were when I passed last week.

New Mills Marina offer full services for narrowboats on the Upper Peak Forest Canal. Diesel, Pumpout, Coal, Water, Elsan and overnight moorings.

I saw the boat involved this morning there was nothing on the roof, it was an extremely tidy and well cared for boat. Perhaps we should wait for the inevitable investigation to be completed and an official announcement made.

Reference my posts yesterday, I sadly seen the body recovered at 2130hrs yesterday evening. The police specialist unit with unenviable task walked the length of Harecastle tunnel and emerged from the tunnel entrance not more than slightly above waist deep. It is, of course, impossible to stand on the roof of a boat in the tunnel. I was first boat through the tunnel this morning, and despite feeling a little uneasy business as usual has resumed. My thoughts rest with the family.

Tragically the body has just been recovered. Very sad occasion.

I am currently at north end of the tunnel, the unfortunate person fell off the last boat in the convoy, it is a fatality and a body has not yet been recovered. Police are in attendance awaiting a specialist unit. What caused the person to fall off the boat is as yet unknown.
