  1. I know this must be covered a million times on here so I'm been lazy not looking for answers... But... Our log burner... What's the best way to keep this burning all night long..? And what's the best coal? Thanks folks.. I'm determined to get this fire lark right! :-)
  2. Omg ! Lots to learn for me!! Not sure I even know what some of these things are! I thought my Swiss Army knife would fix everything? But then I am a girl..one that wants to learn tho! :-)
  3. I have 2 on the boat at the moment but think I will definitely get another couple for this price. Thank you !
  4. Sounds lovely! If can't comment so much on the cruising area as we are still new to it all. But I just know there is a very low bridge on the approach to the marina and a few locks but all fine. Exciting times for you! Good luck!
  5. We have recently moved into droitwich marina although we are using boat just a couple nights a week at the moment. It's our first marina so I can't really compare but facilities are good. Location works well for us ie close to a town, motorway etc. droitwich for me at the moment is just so so. It's got what u need but I wouldn't say it's my dream place to live. However we are still investigating the area. It depends what your looking for. Where I stand at the moment is... Marina I love, location is really convenient, like been next to rugby club, slight lack of decent nearby pubs, you are close to supermarkets. Hope that helps! Good luck
  6. Ok thanks all.. Seems we will try the gardeners arms. Doesn't appear there is much that we are missing ! Good job we have the lovely log fire so will get a good supply of wines on board!
  7. Hi all, any recommendations for good pubs or eating places in and around the marina at Droitwich? To be honest once on the boat I don't want to leave but we do like a good pub or odd meal out once in a while! So far we've found the Eagle & sun and the Vernon in Hanbury. Thanks everyone!
  8. Look forward to bumping into you down at Droitwich! We have been at the marina on our new boat for the last few days! Had to come back home today to do some house viewings.. Need to get the house sold. Adore the Marina life. In reply to post re noise at droitwich. I hadn't noticed it at all until yesterday morning. You can hear traffic but to be honest it's not a traffic type of noise if that makes sense. There is a lovely easy going relaxed feel to the marina. Happy days everyone. :-)

  10. Getting head round internet options on boat is a thousand times harder then buying a boat!! ;-/

  11. Thanks for all your lovely comments. The Severn was fantastic! We were so nervous about it but on Tuesday morning it was like a mill pond. Gave great chance to practise getting to grips with steering! First lock at diglis was a bit daunting as I had to hold the boat in place for about 5 mins but after that it wS fab. Lovely lock keeper at Bevere gave me encouraging words. Absolutely love it and can't believe we own our own boat!
  12. Sooo excited that we made our first trip! Absolutely loved navigating around the rivers and canals and now safely in Droitwich Spa Marina. And so our new life and adventure begins. Loads of questions... These will follow in the days to come!
  13. Thank you so much everyone for your invaluable advise. Lots of useful tips. Look forward to our journey ! Will no doubt be asking more questions soon!
  14. Hi So excited as at last we get our first boat on Saturday. We are travelling from Gloucester to Upton upon sever on Saturday with help. Then moving it to droitwich spa marina on hopefully Sunday or early next week. We are really nervous about doing the river severn bit on our own as we've heard a few scary stories. Any advise on the journey would be so helpful. How long from Upton to droitwich, any challenging parts etc etc.. Thanks so much everyone :-)
