  1. Anyone know anything about them?? I've found one for sale that was alledgedly built in 1917!!
  2. I have a cunning plan.... Why don't we just untie and move the "abandoned" boats that are left on visitor moorings?
  3. Nope... they had expired licences on them and the sales information also showed that they were expired/unlicenced not just "not displaying".
  4. Just use the *3370# code to activate the full rate. You can either have full rate or half rate.
  5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  6. Hi Nige It all depends where you're starting from/finishing at. I'm in Rugby so would have to drive to start point then get back to my van from finish point, hopefully to find it still where I left it!
  7. That's dead easy for me to get to... only 30 miles from home Let me know when you're up for it and I'll be very pleased to be able to come along. One of my first planned trips when I finally get on the cut is to go up the Soar/Trent/Fossdyke to Lincoln so would be a great help in boosting my confidence for that trip.
  8. I didn't word that very well did I?? I meant where in Leicester are you starting from as I presume it's a round trip from home mooring to new boat pick up spot back to home mooring?
  9. That'd brilliant. I presume you're heading South then if my rather vague knowledge of the network is right? Starting on the Trent then coming down the Soar/GU to Leicester? Where abouts are you starting from exactly?
  10. This is false. *3370# activates the EFR Enhanced Full Rate codec which gives much better sound quality BUT at a much higher rate of load on the battery. So using this code will actually reduce your battery life! If you want to try to increase battery life then try *#4720# This activates the Half Rate codec which reduces sound quality so uses less battery power. These codes only usually work on Nokia phones.
  11. Well it may well be in the connection agreement but my eyes and the reality tell me different. I've looked at over a hundred boats for sale in marinas all over the country and dozens of them have expired licences on them.
  12. There's got to be a photo of the month winner in one of Norman18grp's set he just posted up there ^^^ Amazing shots, well done
  13. Cool! Another offer You people really are nice Will there be enough room on your little grp boat for me Fuzzy? I'm quite a big bloke! 5'11" and 18 stone
  14. For those who have no idea who or what Tomska is talking about... "In Germany they first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me — and by that time no one was left to speak up."
  15. Thanks very much Phil but that's quite a way from me in Rugby.
  16. Those boats that never leave the marina don't have to buy a licence. There's a major funding issue right there!!
  17. I couldn't agree more
  18. I remember it well I was 17 years old and thought going to stonehenge for the solstice was the best idea I'd ever had. I got caught up in the crap that went on around the edges of that field as quite a few of us went over to see what all the noise was about. The sad thing for me is I've still not regained any trust for the police
  19. I doubt it as local authorities and residents seem to think that allowing planning permission for residential moorings will bring a thousand smelly, thieving scumbags to their doorstep
  20. Not 100% sure about the areas near the canals but there's some nice pubs round this way. Give me a ring as you come through Rugby and I'll meet you for a chat and a pint if you like. I'll PM you my mobile number if you fancy it?
  21. The problem then arises that there's nowhere near enough moorings available
  22. I look more like this actually: But now with glasses as I need to give wearing contacts a rest for a while.
  23. So the few residential moorings are just for the people who work at the marina... I doubt very much if it's too expensive for them.... company mooring discount anyone??
  24. Not sure this is in the right part of the forum so appologies if it's wrong. If everything goes as planned (fingers crossed) I should be on the cut by the end of March. I was wondering if there's anyone out there who would like a hand moving a boat or if anyone with the space would like some company for a couple of days so I can get some experience of handling a nb and locking? It's been nearly 18 years since I last lived on a boat and could do with a bit of a refresher to get back into the swing of things. Obviously I'll pay my way/bring beer and wine/try to not snore too loudly Thanks.
