  1. Thank you to everyone for making me feel welcome on my first banter. With special thanks to Pikeybird for the advice and to Tree for being mad.
  2. Because, if they didn't live and work in London, they wouldn't have "that" job. Unless you know something the rest of us don't, there is a shortage of jobs out there.
  3. Thank you Trento. A great time was had, lessons learned, fantastic hospitality.
  4. Oh it do, do it? Yeah good point, maybe it has. The OP obvioustly got the idea of £95.00, unless he himself is making a false offer!
  5. Hi Paul, Overwater Boat Sales is now being provided by Boatfinder Brokerage Services
  6. Hi Flo Tiller. I have viewed 4 boats at Venetian. From my experience, I was given keys to the boats I wanted to view and also a map of the brokerage area of the marina, showing where my chosen boats were moored. You are basically left to it. I was amazed at the poor internal appearance of 3 out of the 4 boats. One looked like it had been burgled! I found the stern doors left open, deck boards lifted up and general boating equipment left in the rear cabin, to create an obstacle course for me to view the rest of the boat. The other two were just very grubby and smelly Not a good impression for me. However, I would not let this put me off if there happened to be a good boat there, which of course, there may well be. If you know about boats and do not need to ask questions while looking around, this method of viewing is fine but for the inexperienced it can seem a fruitless task. If I were to go back again, I would probably insist the broker comes with me. I have also heard that in negotiations, they can pretend there is a seller to ask if they will accept offers, but, as mentioned above by Richard, Venetian actually buy the boats in.
  7. There seems to be no info written for this boat
  8. I am new to boating, I do not even have my own boat. I am waiting for my house to sell so that I can live life on the water. Some may say I am mad as I had made the decision to live-aboard without any experience whatsoever Okay, so I have not been a big poster on this forum, preferring instead to chat to folk in the chat room. It is there that I was given a chance to gain some boating experience from some members A special thank you goes out to Paulc and Little Duck for inviting me to spend a day with them on their boat, and also, recently a journey through Harecastle Tunnel and to work through the locks of "Heartbreak Hill" on the Trent and Mersey Thank you to Tiller Girl for the invite to Anderton Boat Lift, although unfortunalteley I could not make it that day Thank you also to Trento, as I will be spending a couple of days with him on his boat. This is just what I need and it is much appreciated. I am so glad I came to this forum to meet such nice people both on the internet and in the flesh.
  9. Middlewich Folk and Boat festival is on now.
  10. This thread was a great read so many thanks. I am now more confident that my cats will be ok living aboard with me. Neither roam very far. To the Australian with an attitude: The biggest threat to our native species is man himself. Humans have caused horrendous destruction in the name of progress. Do not blame an animal.
  11. I will try this, thanks. However, what petrol station/corner shop stocks chorizo?
  12. It would be a dream of mine to have a farmers' field mooring. I've had a look at Overwater marina near Audlem on the SUC and unlike many marinas I've seen, it is very spacious looking and tranquil. Just a thought, but of course this comes at a price. Most marinas to me are very off putting but credit to the owners of Overwater!
  13. Ok, thanks Oh, there's one more post lol!
  14. I have noticed there is a chat room on here but I am denied access
  15. Exciting times! Good luck!
  16. Hi y'all! I am Ben from Alsager, Cheshire. I have thought about living on a narrowboat for many years. Through my job I came across a narrowboating couple and after much chatting and looking around their boat I am now seriously thinking about selling my bricks and mortar and living on a narrowboat. I am both nervous and excited. I have a lot to learn so be gentle with me!
