  1. I did think the video quality was a bit murky.
  2. Thanks, if I go with glue, I think what I could do is fix to sections of ply, clamping/weighting, before mounting the whole assembly to the battening.
  3. Ah, sounds interesting. I'll into them, thanks.
  4. Not really, other than being able to take out a section if it became damaged.
  5. The pine T&G that I've stripped off was fixed with brass screws to the battening. I'm going to replace with T&G again , but it should now have a 9 or 12mm ply backing. This time around, I'd rather not use screws, or secret nailing. I've already discounted screwing and plugging. Would dowels work, or is there a risk of splitting the T&G? Not yet decided on the wood as yet. It'll be vertical, if that makes any difference. ...or glue?
  6. Your helpful friend, if they haven't worked with Iroko before, ought to be aware that it'll be hard work to cut, and will need a preparatory wipe-down with acetone on the areas to be glued, thanks to the qualities of the wood which make it durable.
  7. Chateau Bateau le bateau de chateau, come on
  8. My ex went on some DIY composting toilet course that he ran at his place man years ago. He's been doing this sort of thing for ages. Of course, the real money is in making the TV series, for which this narrowboat project is really episode content.
  9. They've an entire chateau to accommodate people. What's the appeal in going over to France to spend your holiday in a boat that's not going anywhere?
  10. Doesn't that bit of kit just put out a boosted signal from your router (which I'm guessing you don't have)?
  11. ok, thanks. seen a few warnings, wondered if it ever did happen.
  12. Well, that's the question really: does it get affected by flooding from the River Stour?
  13. Aldi offer even cheaper (£16), can buy online. Buy something else for a fiver and get free delivery.
  14. Seen those; thought powder was more for electrical fires, but not bad value. There's an ash vacuum cleaner for £40 that's interesting for cleaning stoves. edit: 33 quid!
  15. Pleasantly surprised to hear it. No way to moderate it?
  16. https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/p/happy-home/vonhause-3-blade-stove-fan/p27919 No endorsement from me, just FYI
  17. Jesus. Maybe I'd be better off forgetting about the bed, and sleeping upright.
  18. Good point, there's hatches at front and both sides. Occasional GORD; hadn't thought about that, will have to be able to jack up the bed frame. Thanks.
  19. I thought I'd be stirring up a short*rses bed, not a hornet's nest Good point
  20. Thinking about end of cabin to make the most of the space, and permanent installation. Did it make any difference to how you slept?
