  1. Hi Halsey, thank you for the info re Persia and ABNB. With the exception of the black framing the grey colour on Persia is very similar to that on mine. Looking at the photograph of James Loader I can now see where the gentleman I spoke with saw the similarity with those of Leonard Leigh.
  2. I would never doubt your intelligence it’s just that in this particular instance I was purely lucky. VERY close but no cigar on this occasion ?
  3. Athy I would love to pretend that I have an encyclopaedic knowledge and experience of boats but sadly the truth is that there is something in the photograph that gave the game away. ?
  4. Having seen a couple of that make launched I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. They looked flash but poor quality. Smoke and mirrors came to mind
  5. Just been on Google and You are quite right. The James Loader tug looks very nice. I can see where the gentleman got his idea from though I don’t have the black paint surround.

  9. When I was out a little while ago a gentleman on the towpath remarked to me that the colour of my NB reminded him of an old canal carrying company. I am sure he mentioned a name similar to Lee but I may have misheard him and a search with Google hasn’t revealed any answers. I thought his remark was unusual as the cabin sides are a light grey with a raddle red roof or cabin top if you prefer ? As Google has not been my friend on this occasion I was wondering if anyone has any ideas. I have always associated the working boats of old with with bright vibrant and contrasting colours not grey.

  11. Well after some procrastination I have left EE and added another 3 contract. It may be a decision I come to regret but nothing ventured etc etc. The decision was made very easy for me in the end. I rang EE asking for a PAC which is my usual negotiating norm and then listened to their speel about their various contracts which were in effect dreadful compared to 3. I now have 100GB data (30 of which may be used for tethering) unlimited minutes and texts for £18pm in addition to the 100GB of data that I have for the home fi. As I have a Wi-fi omni directional antenna I am hoping that that should cover any weak signal areas. Another benefit of 3 is the unlimited streaming of Netflix (in SD) and Wuntu together with their go roam package. Many thanks for everyone for their input and personal experiences.
  12. Pastures new? That sounds foreboding based on the comments I have read. No personal knowledge or experience of the man but sounds like should you be unlucky enough to shake his hand you should immediately count how many fingers you have left. Though it make take many years people of that ilk normally get their comeuppance be it jail, loss of assets or if he rubs the wrong person up the wrong way being found in the boot of a burnt out car. Personally I prefer the burnt out car method for scumbags.
  13. Thank you very much for that. Best I delay any change of network until I have sorted my mooring location
  14. Interesting. I have seen a few of his videos but not that particular one. It was from the car detailing world that I got my concerns about cleaning the area prior to painting in so much that there was a suggestion that traces of oil/waxes etc may be left behind meaning that in time the painted surface would deteriorate. I don’t think I will be going down the route of £20 for 500ml based on his white board theory lol
  15. That’s good to hear as I already have some of that. Bought it for some decorating around the house which I never got round to. i appear to be quite keen on doing little bits and pieces to the boat but I can’t be ar*ed doing things around the house ? The car also gets mollycoddled and if I’m not careful I suspect I am going to get an earful from the Mrs
  16. Thanks everyone for the very helpful replies. As for the small waiting list at Kings Bromley I blame the boating press. Fancy doing a magazine article on a marina I am interested in! Gits. ?
  17. Thank you very much, after having ‘looked it up’ that is exactly the product I need. Once again superb advice from you. Thank you for the advice. I won’t now be using it on the engine. ? Thanks for the clarification. As you can probably tell chemicals are not my thing. After nearly burning our house down in the very early 70’s I was banned from messing with test tubes and naked flames. ?
  18. At some stage I am going to do a couple of small touch ups to my top sides. Reading that prep is the key and ensuring that he surface to be painted is clean and clear of oils, grease etc I was considering either using either IPA or Acetone after initially washing the area. Are either of these products suitable for this task and if so which is best for this purpose? Being a cheap skate I would like to buy something which can also be used for other purposes such as cleaning my Gardner engine. I’m not bothered about removing nail polishes as I don’t tend to use them ?

  20. I am considering changing my mobile phone plan but in the new year I am probably going to change my mooring location. Two marinas that I am considering moving to are Wigrams Turn or Kings Bromley if either have vacancies. I am currently with EE but I want to change to a better plan with 3 mobile but obviously I don't wish to change if the signal at my new mooring is going to be crap. Is there anyone on Canalworld who moors at either Kings Bromley or Wigrams turn and who uses 3 mobile that could give me their opinion on the phone signal at these locations please? I want to use the go binge on 3 for Netflix so the signal strength is important

  22. I recently replaced our cross bed mattresses and we chose The Custom Made Mattress Company who are based in Farnworth Lancs. I have no one else to compare them with but I was very happy with the customer service and the subsequent products. Mine are sprung and when I mentioned memory foam they stated they could make a sprung mattress with a memory foam layer though they suggested a good mattress topper rather than memory foam. I gave them the measurements and they quoted for different levels of mattress there and then. Took my order on the phone and they delivered a few days later to our marina berth. It would appear that they can make whatever you want. https://www.custommademattress.co.uk/
