  1. No drowning is not nice, my uncle tried to drown me when i was 6 yrs old he held my head in a sink of water I remeber it like it was yesterday opening my eyes underwater and struggerling the sheer panic of not being able to move my head out of the water to take a breath to sustain my little life i remeber havng no strength to struggle anymore and and bubbles everywhere as i started to breathe in the water the burning pain in my chest my throbbing head and i didnt experience euphoria, but i think that bit comes after the heart stops beating and you're not attached to your lifeless body anymore but luckily for me he pulled me out just as i was about to black out and threw me to the floor and i just coughed out water. That was a terrible experience but he took my mind of it by beating me and making me get a vicious doberman in from the garden the dog mauled my arm then my uncle trew me in the overgrown garden of nettles in just my underpants and i was stung all over but after all that i have to say the drowning part was the worst as I thought i was a gonna so in my opion drowning isn't that much fun. When I was about 10 an older youth tried to drown me in the swimming baths I must have a face that says dunk me I should have been called Duncan lol. I jumped into a river to get my narrowboat back once and expected to come up to my knees but I went straight down must have been 8-10 ft ii swam out to boat with my dogs on board and I had a hell of a job to get on what I did was go down under the water and launch myself up with force and HEAVED myself up on the stern where you step off much to my relief and the dogs. It was funny as I went under a bridge and people didn't see what happened on the other side so wondered why I was standing at the tiller piloting my boat dripping wet head to toe luckily not to many people about as it was getting dark
  2. if you just want an inverter I just bought a bestek 2kw inverter because it was a nice colour its great doesn't make any funny noises and it works £120 amazon.
  3. its a shame to cage or confine any animal
  4. Hi Junior, It could be a bad earth connection I had same problem with my alternator not charging and it was a bad earth connection. Check for any loose wires around your engine. Don't let it get you down mate. I know it can though I had things go wrong with my boat. I think its a common theme on boats I bought my boat just over a year ago and moved on to it april last yea,r and while cruising thinking this is the life the next minute watching steam come up from my engine bay, turns out to be the stern gland bearing under pressure from the engine being out of alinement, it broke the nuts and locking tabs on my drive coupling so the next couple of days down the engine bay in the rain ( this is the life ) sorting it out and cycling around engineering companys to cut me out some tabs. But I persevered and I done it it felt good that I fixed it. I also changed the gland packing whilst I was fiddling with my nuts...........OOOhh matron. It will all work out in the end as my dad used to say, and im glad things are looking rosier for you good luck mate. I think I past albion at bulls bridge last summer shes a fine looking craft, shes just testing your resolve. Ive learned that boats do that sometimes : )
  5. He was a nice guy and she was a charming dog its a damn shame I think carbon monoxide detecters should be on the boat safety check
  6. on the leeds and Liverpool a cyclist ran over my dogs paw I didn't here her coming no warning no bell not even a sorry she knew she hit him as he yelped out if I knew she was coming I would have made moved out of the way hes ok by the way but it could have been worse
  7. does the prop turn easily if not slacken of the 2 nuts of the collar is there gland packing . I would check your gland and nuts
  8. drip from your sterngland is normal you have to grease it after cruising with your stern gland greaser also i put a container under the stern gland to catch any drips and empty it when im greasing my gland.......OOOOHH MATRON. BILGE PUMP WONT GET ALL THEWATER I USE NAPPIES OR MOP AND BUCKET NOW AND THEN sorry bout the caps. hope this helps good luck
  9. I don't think it is right to have pets on board un attended in this heat the boat next to me reach 102 degrees with everything open! Is it fair to put any living creature through that stress and don't forget they are wearing fur coats. And if they survive when you come back to the boat they cant tell you what they have been through.
  10. Im on my way to leeds from Hertfordshire. On the trent and Mersey at the moment.
  11. Hi Brickie was the boat in question called Pia
