  1. Rose Narrowboats wouldn’t do less than 50L last time I passed.
  2. I’ve mixed feelings about them now. Enough that I’ve withdrawn my support. Not gonna try explaining it on here. But basically I feel it’s now a London mob that I don’t want representing me. I got the energy payment in the end, how much that was down to their doing I dunno. There were several organisations chasing it up.
  3. I ain’t seen the latest figure for unlicensed boats but I think at one point CRT claimed they had it down to 3%?
  4. I’d be interested to see the figures CRT have for the non movers. what we got 7000boats without a home mooring? I wonder how many have been given their eviction orders, how many have been put on a six month license, where the target areas are. and how many at a given time are on a permission to overstay, I wonder what the split would be?
  5. Now I see this as the red herring, there’s no reason at all to make the comparison, I guess it grates on me because there’s rarely positive talk/reference to the CCer, just a perpetual moaning, or continuous moaning about them, mind, I see Arthur’s hinted at something more positive,
  6. No, it don’t matter. your correct, as was Alan Fincher’s pedantry.
  7. have stopped with gas too? and the coal?
  8. Ok, I think we’re on about different things and I may have mixed things up a bit. I simply don’t see why someone, like myself, who has chosen to lead a life style away from the bills and expense of living on land should be seen as an easy target to clobber with higher taxes/bills/whatevers. There are a couple of posters on here who have repeatedly said our expenses are nothing like there’s and we should pay more. I’m not necessarily talking about boating expenses but about general living expenses. I don’t want to be dragged into their world. To a certain extent I’ve opted out of it. The law, or the spirit of the law is a different discussion. The majority of boaters without a home mooring that I meet are on a genuine cruise. But then I don’t venture down south much and see the problems down there. I think some of your terminology comparing CCers with criminals further imbeds mistrust of CCers
  9. is it a red herring? one doesn't have to buy a house at all, ever, if one doesn’t want to, why should I be berated for choosing not to have a mortgage or pay rent? once upon a time when I did have a mortgage, there used to be several squats in the town, fair play I thought, good on ‘em, I’ve never knocked anyone for looking for a cheaper life style and not wanting to play the game, the best squat was in a pub, the Dock and Railway was it’s original name, can’t remember what it was called in its final years. I attended a big party there days before it was demolished. So why they all standing outside the Flapper in Brum? haven’t read the article just looked at photo I do know there was a rally at Cambrian Wharf back in November, The photo must be mixed in from then,
  10. As a rule I will generally only fill up a Jerry can if I think there’s going to be an issue over the split, I’d rather not argue the toss, I only fill up the tanks where I can claim 0% for duty,
  11. it’s all a roundabout argument, I only have a boat because I sold me house and spent the profit buying the boat,
  12. I think this London lot are a different kettle of fish all together, which is why I don’t support levelling ‘up’,
  13. oh yes, forgot you are a landlord, had me boat valued earlier this month and it’s doubled in value over 12 years 🤷‍♀️ but that’s not the point, the point is I have opted out of owing the bank or a landlord, should I be penalised? mtb thinks I should
  14. are they legal doing that? the onus is on the buyer/boater, ain’t it? So why are some marinas arsey about it? They have to pass the duty on, or perhaps they’re unscrupulous and keep it? 🤔
  15. yes, I’ve saved myself £800 this month by not having a mortgage, £1000 by not renting, another few hundred with not paying council tax, water rates, a lecky bill, a gas bill and so on, mugs game, who’d choose to do that? why choose a life of debt for oneself and then grumble at folk for opting out? Feeloaders Unite 👍
  16. Cheers for letting us know, it’s a proper surprise they won’t sell diesel. sorry if I was impatient with your reply 👍I sometimes get over excited. are you going over to Manchester? I think Hebden is the last place for diesel until way past Manchester somewhere🤷‍♀️.
  17. I hear Council Tax is going up, 👍 It’s been such a bargain for such a long time it’s well over due a good increase, I always thought CT was supposed to reflect the value of the house? perhaps CT ought to rise at the same rate as the value of the house?
  18. That bar up by the Giraffe, they brew their own beer, very good, but I was eager to get home to drink another bottle of Batham’s I’d put aside
  19. Oh dear, hopefully the OP will come back and tell us how they got on, a bit annoying when they ask for immediate help but can’t be arsed to let us know the result, hey ho,
  20. Well, if they know you, they know you don’t use diesel for propulsion, so claim 100% domestic, it’s your call not theirs,
  21. I wouldn’t know. great way to conflate the issue,
  22. Ok, ok , I’ll rise to it, ..…just not now, I’m enjoying a 7% stout at a ridiculously expensive price, £6 summat. But well done Alan de Enfield we’ve all (genuinely)been missing a good back to basics argument. The forums become a bit boring without one.
