  1. yep minimum ash on the pan obviously can’t say I’ve yet tried transferring a stool using either method, ladle or no, if you’ve only a 4” door you need to park shorter stools, or coil them for an easier fit. I guess 🤷‍♀️
  2. but the old argument is what happens to the compost? Unless used on land it’s pointless generating the stuff.
  3. But the cost of them incinerators is well expensive, £5000 or something to install ? best use ladle
  4. good idea but if there’s a bit of ash in the pan the shit should slide without need to use a ladle 👍 but do clean the ash pan before frying your bacon and eggs …and don’t mix your sausages !!
  5. I think we’ve reached a quick conclusion/solution here for you Squid.
  6. that’s the one is it still going well?
  7. theres is/was a lovely pub by a lock, and I never remember the name. Kept the old hours, shut in afternoon. Decorated with teapots I think, I remember it looked good for food, unpretentious and proper. Maybe you know it?
  8. or shit straight into a paper bag and no need to ladle 👍 job done (so to speak)
  9. Is the pump out an easy fix? I see places are now charging £20 to pump out. personally, I use a cassette toilet and it keep things simple, there are plenty of places to empty a cassette, and at no extra cost. If and that’s a big IF, I had a private mooring with a bit of land I’d go for the composting method and use the compost on the land. but as it is, with being on the move all the time a cassette is so much easier. save time, effort and stress, go boating instead 👍
  10. Picture thread is good I like comparing the old and new pictures, and seeing if I recognise anywhere And the seaside photos of boats and water, although not strictly in keeping with the title, are great to see. 👍
  11. I’m still no more help with Ellesmere though, I have a vague memory of a chip shop. I used The Star (?) mainly. But a lovely town with everything a boater needs.
  12. Ha yes, my fault, my deliberate mistake, well spotted 😃 it was the mention of basin I automatically thought Ellesmere Port, but of course .. Ellesmere has a basin. That’s my memory too Id have a few cheap beers there and then walk back to the Horse and Jockey
  13. was that the William Jessop? Big pub with lots of professional looking dart boards.
  14. I think I used the Light of India. Ate in. Must have been ok, but not memorable. I can’t remember much that stood out in Ellesmere Port other than the pub close by you. Not much help, sorry.
  15. I guess I don’t then and from what you say navigation lights make even less sense for a canal boat. Seems only the tunnel/head lamp is needed.
  16. I’m red green colour blind so I really won't know if you’re coming or going, unless you have you’re tunnel light on
  17. Don’t know how long it’s been out there but I’ve just seen Ukrainian vodka has hit our supermarkets. I rarely go Sainsbury but I see they stock it. If you like your voddie try it it’s a good one. Nemiroff! I’m guessing with the refusal to sell Russian vodka such as Russian Standard they have finally found themselves a better alternative. This is boating related because it is a boaters’ anti freeze. (not an antifreeze for the engine, an anti freeze for the boater 👍) And you’ll support Украіна!
  18. but we do need pressure groups out there bragging their achievements. the government needs thorns in its side and the thorns need to keep jabbing away publicly And I like NBTA for this reason, they are out there, they are a pressure group unafraid to protest Have they shot their load too early?..sounds like it but let’s see what happens next week.
  19. is it really back peddling? or just keeping people informed? I could have said nowt. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ Just trying to understand. It’s all murky to me. But sounds like they got a duff deal.
