  1. Please see the Post Stolen Boat In General with regards to the sunken boat
  2. My Partner has just spoken to both crt and to Richard at Redhill Marina and she has been informed the boat is located directly under the two A453 road bridges Police divers are on the scene as i write this, Crt has said they would advise at this time not to navigate through, However Redhill marina has said that it is passable and there is talk of trying to move it within the next few days, so after xmas, We are going to find out more tomorrow as we had hoped to travel that way on xmas day
  3. Sounds nasty, Ill be stripping, sweeping, and struggling to get it back together again at the weekend
  4. Yes it is wise, i do have a baffle plate which gets taken out although getting it back in sometimes proves to be a task, As rule im burning Smokeless, but also add wood dry oak pieces
  5. Now i no this might sound like a daft question to most of you out there, But how often as a rule do you Sweep and Clean your Multi Fuel Stoves? . The reason i ask is i cleaned mine out and swept the chimney at the end of last winter, ive now used the stove for the past two weeks and last night i struggled to keep it lit suggesting to me that i may need to sweep the Flu and Chimney again, I have to say ive also still only got a short traveling chimney on although i do have a longer one (Chimney that is) .
  6. Well the power of the internet , Thank you all for your help concerning my original post, Im pleased to say that hopefully a happy result has come out of it for all parties included. Thanks everyone
  7. I have to say that i bought my boat last june from NBS when they was based at Castle Marina Nottingham, But all my dealings was with James Shakespear and i have to say i found dealing with him to be totally professional at all times and was highly delighted at the level of service i recieved from him and his team right up until i had some sort of idea of what i was doing being a newbie to boat life. So much so that i recomended others to NBS It wasnt until NBS moved to Meadow Lane that i actually met Findlay Shakespear ,
  8. No im determoned to not light the stove until at least the middle of October that said i have put the winter high tog duvet on the bed already lol

  10. As said its got a current |BSS till 2016 I for one cant see the difference in a BSS for an owner or one for someone whose Renting. As said just helping someone out in his hour of need .
  11. This is the problem with todays modern life to many bloody hoops to jump through to many rules and regulations, Dont shoot the messenger guys im just trying to help someone out in his time of need. If the BSS is good enogh for the owner to live on personally i cant see the difference
  12. The boat does have a current bss till june 2016 as for anything else i cannot be sure apart from the marina yes they do no, Ideally our friend wants to sell the boat but is just keeping his options open as the winter months approach

  19. Hi there guys and gals, once again im calling upon the forums for some much needed help and advice from those who are in the no. .............................. I bought my first boat this year to live aboard and started my new way life in June which was the start of the good summer ive had possibly one of the best years (weather wise) to start this adventure and so far im loving it ive have some superb outings in my boat 2 weeks here 3 weeks there out every other weekend too, Ive met lots of fantastic people along the way too. Now the cold weather is just upon us id like to no is there any way of draft proofing the big windows, on my boat i have 5 of them, Ive heard some people say you can buy a cling film kit to double glaze the windows? Has anyone tried this or has anyone got any other ways i can draft proof my boat ???? Any help on this would be much appreciated
  20. In my eyes the best bit of going through Leicester on the rivers and the canal is when heading out at either end, I went out that way August Bank Hol weekend for a week, and not only did i think the water`s was disgusting strewn with rubbish the towpaths littered too but i pushed to not to stop in or around Leicester as both myself on my boat and my friend on his boat felt intimidated by the people around the canals rivers and the locks.
  21. I was asked to help a friend crew on a trip upto Zouch lock yesterday (sunday 21st) apart from the odd little bit of mist and drizzle the trip started fairly well , I helped a few people at Loughborough Lock and again at Bishops Meadow, Then when we arived at Zouch lock there was a hire boat in the lock and her crew (two young lads 18/20 yr olds) ragging the lock gates rocking them violently backwards and forwards to which i raised my eyebrows, they eventually managed to close the bottom gates oped the paddles for the top gates heading towards Zouch, and again started to rag one of the gates backwards and forwards shaking and rocking in an agressive manner .......................................This time i had to just say something so i politley suggested if they treat the lock gate with a little respect it and also to wait until all the water was level the gates would then open easier.............................................. I wish id kept my mouth and opinions to my self not only did i get threatened by the two lads on the lock gates but also by there father who was on the tiller and all the people in the hire boat too, They all threatened to smash my face in and throw me in the lock ....................A great sunday afternoon ruined by idiots and now im worried to venture out ...Next time ill say nowt . So Beware of Idiot Hire Boat Thugs.
  22. Fantastic and Ally thankyou again to you all i planned on coming out last sunday to zouch but work called its my birthday today and im planning a trip out tomorrow so i may see you all if your still there. x
  23. Im not worried now lol but certainly was at the time a lovely hot day people everywhere it could only happen to me . That said it certainly hasnt put me off and am looking forward to the next outing
  24. Well after my maiden voyage out of the marina on saturday nervous would be a word i`d use that said as i headed for Loughborough the nerves soon faded i thought a little trip up to the basin turn round then back to the safety of the Marina, The nerves the sweat and the OMG soon returned as i tried to turn around and ended up T-boning the wall in front of me then as i tried to get out of that mess i ended up being pinned to wall sideways on Talk about a VERY EMBARRASSING MOMENT .................................... Then a voice shouts to me ARE YOU OFF THE FORUMS BY ANY CHANCE as i very sheepishly said i might be, this voice said ive been told to look out for you and after he guided me through the ropes of getting un stuck his mate joined him to help when on the side mored up i was talked into turning the boat around staying the night then heading through the locks to then turn around at the river mouth the next morning. I have to say a very big THANK YOU TO 3 PEOPLE (forum uses) who all came to my rescue and who i hope to be able to call new friends , Ally, Marc, and Gerry, it was great to meet you all Since starting out on this adventure of being a liveaboard boater it still suprises me just how very friendly other boat users are so much more friendlier to land lovers.
  25. Well i ended up buying a Liverpool boat, and to be fair i have no worrys in recomending them to anyone , i will say tho if your looking for a widebeam Pillings Lock Marina has a few for sale in and around your budget. At the end of the day i listened to what people said about all the different makes and models of boats both from here and when out and about and if i listened to half the things people said about a Liverpool boat i probaly wouldnt have bought one , But my boat fitted me and had that something about it that i loved when i first saw her, It wouldnt be any good if we all had the same opinions about things otherwise we would all have the same
