OK Here goes with the plan so far.
The Navigation Inn (the Navvy) is one of the friendly canalside pubs that open all day everyday so anyone arriving before the weekend will find a nice comfy pub to drink in.
On Saturday thought we could have a mellow get together in the pub - some book swap (bring your old books please) and if Cheshire Rose has brought her bric-a-brac I am sure she will find somewhere to set up shop for the CHesterfield canal. Otherwise any funds raised will go to help keep Canalworld forum running.
Afternoon can be craft afternoon - knitting, spinning, rag-rugs, home-brew and the special craft of drinking beer.
Thinking of having a music quiz at 9:00 in the evening. Then Steve and Carol (landlords) have promised a loaded juke box so pick your own music and carry on until everyone runs out of steam.
On Sunday the Navvy can put on a full English breakfast - details of cost to follow. Anyone veggie? Easter Bonnets not essential although Carol has threatened a prize for the best bonnet or perhaps we should include waistcoats as well!
Will have an Easter egg hunt including a few golden tickets for special prizes eg bottle of wine/free pint.
As long as we get enough people we will be having a mini-bus trip to Elsemere Port for the historic boat gathering. Cost £12-15 per head for transport there and back, depending on numbers.
In the evening the Navvy is laying on live music, if you want an idea of what its like look up www.openmicjam.co.uk. Again, everyone can stay till late.
THe Navvy is usually open for food 12:00 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 21:00 but if the weather is good they may put food on all day. They do a good Sunday lunch and will do a roast on Sunday evening as well. WOuld be helpful to book early if you definetly want a roast.
There is a bed and breakfast locally The Leys but it may be booked up
and the Premier Inn in Newport - I think Chesire Rose had posted links. Camper vans ok in the car park, but loos will be shut when the pub eventually shuts.
As usual plans can be changed if everyone wants something different and I don't want to have too full an agenda after all this is not a boat club meeting. Just looking forward to good company.
PS Dogs are welcome in the bar area of the Navvy (and muddy boots are ok).
