  1. where do I sign up to get alerts on different river conditions to my inbox then?
  2. hmm. interesting.... I am looking at doing the Oxford Ring, Thames, Oxford Canal, then down Grand Union in my first nice long trip. So are we saying that overnight moorings are tricky on the Oxford...?? and the locks are tricky too??? That might present a problem on my own. Anything else I should know about from anyone experienced at this trip? This is my first bigger excursion. All advice gratefully received! I am looking at all this rain as well and wondering ..

  7. ok I have just learned a load of new stuff about my Honda generator. Thanks.
  8. craftmaster.. tried others, but this comes out tops for me.
  9. My fire surround on my new (old) boat has cracked when I lit my new replacement squirrel stove. Therefore I can only assume it is not fireproof/ heatproof. It is cracked at this point, but not distintegrated. I am wondering if I can screw six of these panels http://www.thestovecompany.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=212 onto the exisiting board, then tile over. This would be alot less mess for me and I could potentially do it myself without handling huge great panels. Would this be safe???, or would it mess up the amount of space required between the stove and the surround (which is???? is it 600mm) All advice greatfully received.
  10. thank you Mr Boilerman, ok, and where do I find a gas safe registered technician with a boat LPG extra qualification?? In surrey?? Not liveaboard now, but want to do it properly. Got a kid on the boat regularly on the boat and don't want to mess with safety stuff.
  11. I have a new (old) boat with a Morco Gas boiler. My old boat the water went through it at a constant rate, but this oscillates with the pump and certainly smells a little more gassy than my old one. I am unsure why the water doesn't flow regularly and is it safe? It heats the water ok and the flame is a nice blue, but it is not a constant flow. Who would I get to check it out and / or fit a new one? Is it a normal gas person or will the boat yard do this? I am just not sure if this is a problem or not. Any advice please...
  12. um whats a greenie? hope it's not a bogey..
  13. No.. not ridiculous at all.. I thought that.. had never been on a boat.. then just got some bravery from somewhere and did it.. then, asked questions "um... er... how does this work, um what is?... um... how do I ?? Go for it!! It is not a quarter as scary as you might imagine and there is always someone to help.. Do it.. you could not regret it.. Kate x .. lol.. lots of them.. to everyone. You will never regret it.. and as for fear... well yes.. at first.. then you relax and you realise that fear is mostly in your head.. do it.. you will never regret it.. even if it is temporary, it is an experience that you will be lucky to have. x
