Mine did that for years until I got two new batteries and hey presto it stopped.

lol, yes a girl here. So tomorrow I will upload pics from the site advised and see if anyone know exactly the buttons and settings. I simply want use a genny for 240v but really do not understand the system I have and don't want to blow it all up. It works just great, but I need more power for the winter (as I rely on solar really). I am not sure whether to just plug the genny into the shoreline and hope it's all automatic, or whether I need to switch one if the many buttons over to 240 AC somehow. Perhaps I really need someone to explain my system to me.

(can someone tell me how to upload pics on here? I need help with my electric system. I want to use my new generator and don't know what buttons to press on my exisiting system. Do you have to avoid it going through the inverter? This is the equipment I have now. Victron 3000w inverter phoenix multi control victron isolation transformer 3600 solar control panel 230v/ac 50hz distribution (blue seas systems) box thing with AC Main and reverse polarity button. Thanks

We have a lady who is is happy to donate a couple of rolls of ribbon and give out posters to boats on GU. It might help jog someone's memory. -

I know all help will be very great fully received if anyone wants to put a poster on their boats or ribbon. -
I just can't get my batteries up to 100% even with solar and a trip each week. Inverter kills them, but all the plugs are 240v. I think I need a generator fast. Pykebird, I am the same. Can I ask which genny you are going for?

It's so awful - I have a 14yr old and cannot begin to imagine the pain of just not knowing. I still find it difficult to believe that people can just simply disappear. -
Thank you I will, I am now slightly swayed by an LPG converted generato, to stay on the bank in some diet of secure housing. I don't want to have to keep moving it. Confused now.

The family are asking everyone to tie yellow ribbons to keep up the momentum and jog people Will look sweet on the boats., -
Can I ask why charging to 80% regularly is not a good idea for batteries ?

Extra heat source needed at end of boat - Advice??
Rambling replied to Rambling's topic in Boat Equipment
Well obviously I would rather fix what I have first, but when it was working it definitely did not do the trick for the back end of the boat. It was luke warm and I don't fancy February with it like it is. It will be which is cheaper, separating the existing systems or just adding an extra system at the front end (reverse layout). The MK30 looks good too. I don't do cold -

Extra heat source needed at end of boat - Advice??

Ok, so I am in Surrey. Does anyone have a contact that might be able to work out what us going on with it?? and how to get it working more efficiently?? I agree it seems daft to have 2 systems that don't work independently. Interestingly, the Webasto packed up when I had the squirrel already going and water came flying out of the expansion tank in the cupboard. I am suspecting the pump is not now working and the squirrel is just using convection to heat the radiators after a few hours. The hot water is scalding. I seem to remember that they were going to put a valve to swap between the 2, but didn't eventually. -

I don't have any 240v hook up. The Webasto was in first and then I had the squirrel put in. They are in a series on one side of the boat. I would prefer (like my mate has) the burner radiators on one side, then totally separate extra radiators for the Webasto on the other side. But I think that might get expensive to add a new set of small radiators now. Presumably the boat would have to taken apart to add new pipes. They just added them to the same series, as a back up in case the Webasto went wrong (which incidentally it just has). It now heats the water but doesn't go to the radiators. Good old squirrel -
Well I am sold. Will give it a go for 4 reasons. Price, electric start, carrying handle, Hyundai engine (got to be ok) UK company back up.

Are they easy to light? I have tried shutting off individual radiators, but then none of them seem to work -

Yes I did think of those, but am a bit concerned by all the carbon monoxide warnings in enclosed spaces Yes I did think of those, but am a bit concerned by all the carbon monoxide warnings in enclosed spaces -
I need a small extra source of heat for the back of my 70 ft narrowboat. My squirrel is great, and it has a back boiler linked to a radiator in my bedroom, but it struggles to heat the whole boat fully. It runs 4 radiators (just about ish!) and only if I run it very hot all the time. I also have a Webasto fitted, but it is linked to the same radiators, and it seems to be either the squirrel or the webasto, not both together. Either way, I am thinking deepest winter, it is not going to be warm enough for me right at the back. I need some sort of small extra heater to just crank up the heat in the back bedroom, that is easy to light at 3.00am when you are freezing, but isn't necessarily connected to the exisiting radiators. Any advice?

Has anyone tried one of these portable generators. I can't find any reviews on them, so assume they must be quite new. Good price compared to lots of others though. http://thepowersite.co.uk/evopower-evo3000ei-2-8kw-electric-start-inverter-generator/?gclid=Cj0KEQjwhLCgBRCf0fPH043IlJwBEiQAf8P8U2GbnlZClthCZzpS4-XJc7F6hV8Jb0if8MXLgOn5MukaAnQR8P8HAQ

Thanks for all those voices of reason. Yes she is only interested in accommodation and happens to love cozy narrowboats, but know absolutely nothing about them. She comes from Brighton, hence the idea.

My mate has the mad idea that she might be able to live on Brighton marina, on a 40ft narrowboat. This idea & the sea fills me with horror, as I am quite sure that even if you could crane a narrow boat into the marina, surely this is not a safe option for a boat there. She swears there are others(maybe a wide beam). Can anyone confirm a) whether there are liveaboards on Brightin Marina has anyone ever been on this type of boat there.

Most of the people I have spoken to have most definitely advocated either being on the boat or 'appearing to be on the boat' with lights. After being broken into, I have just got a load of solar lights that light up on the interior and exterior of the boat, whether I am in or not. But then, the problem seems to be during the middle of the day in broad daylight. I am not sure what the answer to this is, maybe an alarm? or better window security? shutters?. It is a real problem.

hmm I have one and it leaks on the spin, and they won't send an engineer out because its not in a domestic building. (
