  1. Aint after the pros and cons of burning whatever. Its there for the taking. Some folk would be happy to keep them selves warm with the FREE stuff. Dont knock a gift horse.
  2. But as you said. You have burnt many a pallet and when they're for free why not if you havent got anything else to burn.
  3. 9 Palletts. Must collect. Dewsbury. West Yorkshire WF13 3BY Please let me know before going.
  4. 20% wow wee. The money they make it should be 50%.
  5. Would you really want to eat a fish thats been brought up in the canal. Feeding off god knows what.
  6. Found some water in the bilge under the gearbox this weekend. Now I have an idea where to look.
  7. First coat brush it on ideally to get it into any imperfections. Short pile should be fine.
  8. Its fine. Weve managed ok. Its recently been dredged too.
  9. All depends on each breed surely and interaction as a pup. Ours is very protective over territory home or away. Same in the car. When he was only 12 month old some idiot walking past the car while the window was down went "oh a staffie puppy" and proceeded to put his hand in for a stroke. Luckily i managed to tell the hands owner to stop just has Fletch prepared to take it off. Then tell him no its not a staffie. Same goes at drive thru car washes. Open the door to clean the sills, dont bother mate on the dogs door. Once out/off the boat he is fine. Invited to enter or come in with a family member he is fine. Try and enter uninvited he will go berserk. My dogs been trained and associated with people and other dogs since born. But he is the only dog out of his litter and parents that hasn't become a worker. Each dog is diffferent.
  10. 1. An internal leak in any calorifier engine coil but that usually causes water to keep pouring out of the engine filler because of domestic water pump pressure. When we leave the boat we turn off the electric via grounding the 12 volt supply to fridge, pumps etc and isolate the water from the tank. When we return we obviously turn it back on but when we do I have noticed a slight increase in the domestic water pump, seems to be on more only for about 3-5 seconds then usual when it pressures back up. I have checked the calorifier, do I need to check it again? I wouldn't want to change the water pump and or head gasket just to find out it isn't that. Changing the head gasket wouldn't harm though would it? Apart from harming my wallet. Clutching at straws now!
  11. http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee489/tikka72/e774f858adbc5c11afaf649953438c0d.jpg This is a photo of my engine. Dont know if it will help. PLEASE NOTE. This was taken on the day of survey 3 years ago.
  12. When cold, say the morning after the days chugging when I check the header tank, I some times get a gurgling when I open the top. Whats the reason for knowing the water level in the header compared to water line on the boat. Not mine
  13. Cant find the core plugs? To be honest not looked in the manual where they are but I cant see owt thats rusty nor can I see a leak. But its still using a 750ml - 1lt after a good days chugging. Bloody baffles me. Even bleeded the skin tanks if that will do owt.
  14. Foxy. Away from the sarky comments. Be careful up yonder on LL as there is a stone ledge sticking out just under the water line. As Dave P says the non tow path side is usually shallower. The occasion mooring on private side may be fine if you can get away with it but I wouldn't make the same place a habit. Theres plenty of nice places on both sides of the cut between Saltaire - Skipton and beyond.
  15. Moor wherever you want. Waterpoints are fine. Dont even bother connecting the hosepipe and walking off to, town with your boat locked. Bollards are great especially ones at lock landings. Just be aware if you do moor at these places, you are gonna get me mooring alongside to get off for water or to use the locks. Ignore the 48hr signs, theyre just for hirers. Moor there all winter.
  16. Ta folks. I will check next weekend hopefully and update accordingly.
  17. Easy to replace Tony? I have a manual. Should be clearly identified i am sure
  18. Ta. Richard. Next time aboard I will have a good gander.
  19. Header tank showed nearly empty. Never seen it so low. Always usually just below max line. In the 3 years we have had the boat I have rarely topped it up. But over the past 2 weeks it has steadily drunk more. I did have a hose replaced a few months prior to our 2 week trip. Thats my first port of call. Not noticed any excess water in the bilge though. Should have asked you to take a look on the Sunday morning of the banter at Alvecote if I had thought. 8.30 am bet you were still stuck to your pillow. Unlike some who were madly waving out of the window as we past.
  20. Its started to use water. About 1/2 litre in 8 hrs of steady chugging. Checked the oil and cant see any sign of water in there. Not had the proper chance to check all water pipes due to a metal bulkhead that needs removing to get access to all of the engine. What should I do? Obviously run the engine and check all water hoses. What else? Head gasket gone? Still runs the same as it has for the last 3 years. Noticed a slight increase in oil pressure but only occasionally.
