  1. Yes, as could anyone throughout the world. By the way, not sure how responders can answer questions about continuous cruiser licences when there is no such licence. Haven't seen the rest of the survey yet but do hope it is less subjective and much more accurate than the one question I have seen.
  2. As CRT have also invited to non boat licence holders to take part, this is irrelevant. As will their comments be. See this on CRT's website: If you still cannot find the invite or are not a boat licence holder but would like to take part in the consultation, please contact us on customer.services@canalrivertrust.org.uk and we can arrange for the consultation invite to be re-sent to you. No, it isn't.
  3. Disingenuous to say the least, there is only one boat licence but, like a lot of things at the moment, state it enough times and it becomes the accepted reality.
  4. I've just checked on CRT's website and there is only one boat licence, as per the Waterways Act. I know CRT keep wording it to somehow imply that there's two different ones.
  5. But there's no such thing as a 'continuous cruising' boat licence. I've had a look at the form to apply on. There's a tick box for boaters but the next page gives a choice of two types of boat licence which also don't exist, a 'Permanent residential mooring licence' and a 'Continuous cruising licence' so boaters won't be able to proceed from there. This will impact on boaters on the Llangollen, who do come under a pilot area from applying.
  6. Is this the same Malvern? Apparently she bought it from a friend.
  7. Can't find tenants?? There's been lots of offers for renting the warehouse apparently but never mind, who needs heritage.
  8. Looks like boaters on official resi moorings will be able to claim, itinerant live aboards will not: https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/money/new-energy-bill-help-portal-29047325
  9. Further to the NBTA's post about claiming the energy grant in certain pilot areas, this from a boater on the Llangollen. Hoping as many boats on that canal as possible have a go at claiming the money: This is an email address for anyone else in Wrexham's area and would like to reach out. They have said the scheme is due to start in another couple of weeks. I have asked them to confirm if this is the trial or the national rollout. WGFSS@wrexham.gov.uk
  10. This problem is exactly what NBTA and NABO are trying to help with. We pointed out to the gov. dept that it had to be acceptable for liveaboards with NFA to only put a c/o address on their online declaration/application form. So far this option has not been taken up on their tick boxes.....
  11. Back on topic, there's a petition against the new mooring charges which do sound prohibitive. https://www.change.org/p/save-bristol-harbour-community-from-reckless-city-council-give-us-our-democratic-process?recruiter=342421391&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=psf_combo_share_initial&utm_medium=whatsapp&utm_content=washarecopy_35479297_en-GB%3A8&recruited_by_id=ce9e3ff0-299d-11e5-a20f-dbb4922ae757&share_bandit_exp=initial-35479297-en-GB
  12. Says it at the start of the link - 'in the pilot areas of Wrexham, Chichester, Glasgow and West Sussex, with a full nationwide roll-out anticipated before mid-February.'
  13. Hoping any itinerant boaters in those areas will respond, showing there is a need and the problems with accessing the grants.
  14. Iced in in Chester, does that count? Actually, it was 'exciting' when I fell over on the ice on the city walls and broke my coccyx. A couple of tourists hoicked me up, stop laughing, it's rather painful, especially when trying to break the habit of a lifetime and not open heavy double beam gates with my bum/back! Hope to meet up at the Fly.
  15. Might see you there, just need to get through by the 3rd to get back to Shebdon.
  16. Goliath, this winter stoppage has today been cancelled (along with several others) so there's just the Audlem one on the 3rd Jan at the moment, unless CRT cancel that too....Boating friends have tried the food, basic but good was the verdict.
  17. Stoppage at Goldstone too from the 3rd Jan.
  18. Good to see our new signs are so long lasting. Money well spent!
  19. 1972 -With £10 I could buy nearly 3 weeks worth of a complete food shop at the newly opened Sainsbury's supermarket, the first supermarket to open in Norwich then. Admittedly I only earned £8 a week.....
  20. By next year it will be worth £5.
