  1. For various reasons I have sold my boat and have therefore vacated my permanent mooring at Bugbrooke marina. If anyone is interested it is a nice little place, laid-back and friendly, with basic but sufficient amenities (water, electricity, toilets, Elsan disposal, rubbish & recycling collection, secure car park) and a helpful onsite warden. It is situated on a 13-mile lock-free pound between Whilton and Stoke Bruerne (through the long Blisworth tunnel which is interesting!). The village is within walking distance and there is a canalside pub (The Wharf) almost next door. Here are the details: http://www.bugbrookemarina.com/ I have certainly enjoyed my time there and it will be sad to leave, but I am sure that I'll be back at some point. So, goodbye for now, all the best to everyone, and I'll pop back in here occasionally to see if anyone has taken up my spot or wants any questions answered. Cheers, Will.
  2. Well, the CRT chap I spoke to was as good as his word - here is an update: https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notice/4469/lock-7-to-lock-13-buckby-grand-union-canal
  3. Update: Delays south 3-4 hours.
  4. I have just had a call from a CRT employee on-site. The delays sailing north are in the region of 3 hours at the moment, but significantly longer travelling south due to the Northampton festival traffic. The temporary fix will not be completed before Tuesday. They said they will try to provide more frequent updates to their site in the meantime.
  5. I would have thought that counting boats in the queue and estimating from that would be easy enough. I'm not worried about minutes, but is it 2 hours or 10, for example?
  6. Me too, they've had enough time to arrange for someone on the ground with a mobile to provide updates. ETA - Or to update their website on an hourly basis.
  7. Ta, sounds doubtful then. I tried ringing the number that CRT gave but "the office is now closed".
  8. Getting back to the effects of this stoppage, I too would appreciate an answer to Morpheus's request: "Any update on queuing times later this (Saturday) afternoon would be appreciated." I am planning to leave Bugbrooke at around 13.00, is there any chance of getting through Buckby today? Cheers.

  14. Seeing as the OP has not posted again in this thread, I think you're right.
  15. Welcome to the forum, Krooko. Some interesting points, but I'm not going to let isolated incidents like that in the OP affect the way I enjoy my boating and I don't think the authorities should either.
  16. I think she means that there is a precedent for this type of incident rather than it is the same one.
  17. Not while actually on their home mooring which is where I presumed the boat would be sited.
  18. I was thinking of the police rather than CRT, assuming that criminal investigations are in hand. (Edited because I couldn't spell "than".)
  19. Whatever the underlying causes and whichever camp you are in (feckless vs unstable), I think it sensible to try to ensure that it doesn't happen again. Given the woman's apparent lack of remorse (even denial of events), temporarily disabling the boat while investigations continue would seem a reasonable option.
  20. Good luck to him, he should be walking past my boat at Bugbrooke soon - he can stop on it for a kip if he wants! Here is a direct link to his blog if that helps: http://walsalltowembley.com/
