  12. Can anyone tel me how to clean fuel tank out, the tank is built in with the boat around the stern and the only access is through the 2 inch filling neck on the deck, am having minor problems with the engine i think through sediments etc that seem to clog-up my fuel filters and engine sdound a bit rough after running the boat for an hour or two, the boat was built 1988 so must have a build-up at bottom of the tank.....anyone got any ideas as the proceedure roy
  13. As i understand it BW own 6 foot both sides of the canal, when houses ar build that back onto the canal the fences are about 6 feet from edge of canal 'unless there been some agreement between builders and BW' to extend the boundary to the edge of the canal, and if you moor your boat at the end of your garden then BW mooring fee applies minus 10%, i think the same goes with the farm land.
  14. hi Yes... R&J Marine at Venetian marina (Ron & Joan) dont know the phone number off-hand. good luck with it Roy
  15. hi tony yes there are 2 fuel filters and i change the oil and filters about 2 weeks ago, i then top the fuel tank up with diesel fom the marina (have to say the tank was low) and what i think may have happened is as the tank was getting topped-up with the diesel it has disturb the sediment at the bottom of the tank so the sediments became 'airborne' if you like, i i then set off cruising for a couple hourd then the engine started to sound rough i stopped for the night, next day i start-up the engine and the problem had gone, i think the filters had done there job but i may have to change the filters again, its a Beta marine engine 3 cylinder 17HP, a thinking i might have to drain and clean out the fuel tank. Roy
  16. hi, my boat engine runs really well when i cruise along but after about 3 hours the engine suddenly sounds from a chug to a sound as if losing power slightly, i have the rev counter on 16 when the boat chugging along, when the change happens the needle on the rev counter drops intermittentlyfrom 16 to 15,when i stop the enging for a couple hours and start it up again the problem gone for a hour or so then it starts again, i have recently change the oil and fuel filters..... any idea of what the problem is. Roy
  17. Yes i think its something to do with hydraulics..... will this mean taking the gearbox out to fix it!
  18. I thought that it maybe a loose cable or ajustment... the machanic at the marina did not think so, will have to wait til engineer looks at it will let you know what the outcome is on the forum roy
  19. yes ... can turn the prop shaft by hand.... am begaining to think it may be something wrong with gear box will let you know what the engineer finds ...
  20. yes i did check prop through weed hatch that was the first thing i did but the problem still there think am going to have to get the marina engineer in
  21. hello people i got a problem with propulsion, prior to starting my engine i do the usual checks ie water coolant and engine oil etc, engine starts fine and am on my way, when i come to a lock or lift bridge and i put the throtle to neutril or go astern then neutril thats ok but then when i throtle to go ahead the engine stops, the engine starts ok when i get this 'stall' and eventually it does go ahead til i put the lever to neutril again, today i was making my way back to the marina when the engine just stopped i put the lever to nuetril then start the engine no probs, operate astern propulsion ok but stalls every time i want to go ahead.... i did manage to pull the boat back to the marina but all i have is astern propulsion the engine is a 3 cylinder beta marine...... any ideas as to what the problem mat be? Roy

  23. yes the river weaver was open to commercial traffic up to the early 1980s large vessels ie 'coasters' A & J Gardens, of Glasgow, In 1977 i was on a ship m/v saint Moden, the ship had tanks in the 2 hatches and load calcium cloride at ICI Winington and and we sail up to scotland ie Troon. Girvan, Lerwick in the shetland isles. and Bacaldine near Oban, we pick up the 'Pilot' at Marsh locks and it took 7 to 8 hours to get to winnington the pilot use the Anderton lift area as the winding hole to turn the ship round and we moor-up and start loading, if we had a night or two along side the crew would go to the british leagen club in barton, and the river weaver was as Blissful then as it is today....
