  1. I know what a jpg is, I just don't appear to have received one from Dave! Dave, can you resent if it's relevant to this thread?
  2. Don't remember seeing it.... I'll have another look when I'm back on my home system. Sorry! Jon
  3. That's because the default forum time is UDT. We are now BST so when you log in the forum selects your time zone. Dave, what Jpg? Jon
  4. Nigel Carton offers a boat transport service. Might be worth contact him. Jon
  5. End of an era! Atleast it's only a few weeks until you can get your new one. Good luck!
  6. The issue of free speech on this forum is not up for debate. You can search for the many previous topics on the subject. Please can we keep this topic to Nb Holly where appropriate. Jon
  7. A while back I signed an e-petition against the cut in funding for the waterways. I've just receieved the following response Thoughts and observations anyone?
  8. Yep, I can also recommend Saltie (do they still operate her?). Saltie II is a wide beam isn't she though? I've done that route before, I just think that it isn't quite as pretty as some of the others, after all industrial Leamington could hardly be called pretty! Jon
  9. Let me clarify the issues here. The members of this forum have put in great effort in an attempt to locate this boat out the goodness of their heart. That is something very major for the forum and something we can all be proud of and rightly so. It would also be a great shame to now ban any posts in relation to Holly on this forum as I'm sure we all want to know what happens. I don't see the problem with keeping people up to date with progress, or talking about what is already set in stone above (ie the pictures). The problem starts when we start to second guess the motive, intentions and reasoning behind what has happenend. While it is very unlikely, do we really want Trish and people at Middlewich to have the case thrown out because of what has posted on here? With that in mind, that is why I have said that posts relating to Mr King will be removed, as we don't want to be responsible for any extra problems. It's as simple as that. The free speech argument has been had before. This is a private forum, and you have agreed to go along with its rules. If you don't like the rules then you don't have to post. I hope this clears things up. Jon
  10. Rose Narrowboats (http://www.rose-narrowboats.co.uk/breaks.htm#day) offer Rosette from Stretton-under-fosse, North Oxford Canal;. I hired it out for my 21st Birthday and it was a great day out! There's a couple of nice pubs along the route too, all fairly green with the occasional lock here and there. Highly recommended. Jon
  11. I'm guess that will all come out in the wash. I'm sure Trish will tell us when she can. Obviously she is restricted in what she can release at the moment. Jon
  12. Thanks for the update Trish. Here are the pictures sent to me by MNB of Holly now... Important request: There has been much discussion about Mr King and his intentions, mental state etc. Now that Mr King has been charged to court, this discussion MUST stop because the case is Sub judice. Any such discussion will be removed from the forum as we do not wish to jeapodise any case going through the courts. Thank you for your co-operation. May I also please add my thanks to everyone who helped out. I have had lots of people thanking me for my involvement, but really all I did was inform all of you and you have all been fantistic in keeping an eye out for Holly. Jon

  18. Thank you fender, you've put it much better than I was trying to do. Lets keep this topic about Holly and leave any judgements about Mr King to those who are qualified to make them. Remember, we are still pre trial here... Jon
  19. Moving to boat building and maintenance.... Jon
  20. I agree, there should be a 'boat owners course' too... Jon
  21. Waterways World is aware (obviously!) and I let as many people know last night as I could. I guess waterscape will be updated on Monday when the office staff are back! Jon
  22. I think that casting any judgement at this time on the mental condition of the male found with Holly (it has yet to be confirmed officially that it was Mr King) at this stage is wrong as we don't know the circumstances and won't know until if/when the case gets to court. I appreciate that we all have our opinions on what we would like to see happen, however I would suggest that we hold back on making judgements until a result is known. From my experience, anyone who is suspected to be suffering from a mental health issue will be assessed while in custody by the local mental health crisis team prior to any interview or other legal procedure commencing so as to remain fair to the person being detained. Jon
  23. In normal circumstances, it would be polite to clear the lock as soon as you are finished so that it is free for others to use, however if there isn't any other traffic around and you are not holding anyone up I don't see the problem really... Jon
  24. I'd be interested to know how they plan to get her back up to Middlewich... lots of locks! Jon
