Rick-n-Jo Posted June 20, 2010 Report Posted June 20, 2010 (edited) Sue Day of the Horseboating Society has sent the following; Can anyone help? Tow appreciated for historic unpowered boat Elland going north. Eventual destination, Standedge on Huddersfield Narrow Canal but any tows north would be appreciated. Boat is usually horse-drawn but lack of time would make a motorboat tow easier. Present location at Autherley Junction area, but this may change as she works north. Boat is 60 feet long. Contact - Sue Day 01457-834863, 07711-121-056, sueday_horse (at) yahoo.co.uk Both of Sue's horses are out of action at the moment, one lame as a result of injuries recieved when yobs shot at him with BB guns, the other rather more happily as she is expecting her third foal. If you can help, either contact Sue direct or PM me. Rick Edited June 20, 2010 by Rick-n-Jo
Rick-n-Jo Posted July 16, 2010 Author Report Posted July 16, 2010 Sue says that Elland is now on the Middlewich Branch of the SU. Elland has to be in Castlefield by Tuesday July 20 as she starts horseboating on Wed July 21, going up the Rochdale 9, and is booked in for the Rochdale 18 as part of the Rochdale Canal Festival. BW are honouring Rochdale Canal bookings previously made. I had a tow arranged with friends, but their cat has gone misssing a few days ago from their boat in the Middlewich area, so they are staying put, hoping the cat returns to the boat. Can she get to Manchester in time? She has gone to the boat to try and hitch a passing tow. If you are passing along the Middlewich, T&M and Bridgewater in the next few days can you offer a tow? (or offer to bow haul for that matter!) Even a short distance would be appreciated. Sue's mobile phone No. 07711 121 056 Assuming they do get there, if anyone fancies doing some horseboating, there are always crew vacancies, no experience needed. Contact Sue or email sueday_horse@yahoo.co.uk
Liam Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I'm heading that way but after speaking to Sue yesterday, she needs to be in Castlefield for Tuesday.
Ritchard Posted July 16, 2010 Report Posted July 16, 2010 I would of helped on the southern part of the SU if I had known/owned a boat when Sue was travelling up there!
