Robert Brown canal artist

does anyone have any info on Robert Brown the waterways artist??

 

as i remember he used to frequent the llangollen canal, i can recall the many hours myself and my father spent trawling the towpaths of the llangollen to find him!!!

 

subsequently we bought two oil paintings from Robert, one is of the middle lock (not the staircase) at Grindley Brook and the other is Tilstock lift bridge on the Llangollen Canal.

 

i think my father paid about twenty quid a piece at the time, unfortunately they both do not posess a date...............

 

Roberts address as shown on the back of the paintings is Threeways, Tetchill, Elesmere, Shropshire.

 

i would imagine them to date about 1988 ish,

 

does anone know where robert is now? or of any of his art work??

Hi Nik, your post is from many years ago so unsure  if my reply will reach you but  I’ve just recently acquired one of his lovely little oil paintings of the New Marton lock and on researching its origin I came across your post. I found it in a charity shop in the north east, appreciated it immediately  and just  had to have it. I can certainly see why you and your father sought him out.
