Original message:

Due to a structural failure to the bottom offside gate, Woolhampton Lock 94 is closed to all boat traffic until further notice.

An update will be issued at 1pm on Monday 9th May.

Update on 07/05/2016:

 

Update

 

To prevent craft approaching the damaged lock, Woolhampton swing bridge has been isolated and will not be operating until the lock is repaired.

 

Aldermaston lock (95) will be padlocked shut.

 

Craft should turn below Aldermaston lock (95) and below Heales Lock (93)

went to woolhampton from aldermaston sat, there was 2 boats moored outside the rowbarge. one gate had a broken top hinge from a craft hitting it to hard. It was a hire boat with a load of drunken adults with a 15 year old navigating. They went through the lock (the door still sealed at that point), winded then came down stream through the lock. they were luck the gate didn't fall on them.

Interesting note tho, a 67 ft boat cannot wind outside the rowbarge but a 60ft can

Update on 09/05/2016:

 

Woolhampton:

 

We’re in the process of assessing the damage caused to Woolhampton Lock over the weekend. Engineers will be onsite from tomorrow to decide how best to fix it, and we’ll have more of an idea about the scope of the works over the next few days. We appreciate your patience while we get this fixed, and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Update on 08/05/2016:

Aldermaston lock has been re-opened to craft.

Woolhampton lock and Woolhampton swing bridge remain closed until further notice.
