Looking forward to this journey soon. In the opinion of the learned ones (I will look at my canal planner later to compare) and given this will be at the start of the school hols in our area, how long do you think it will take if we average 8 hours per day?

Many thanks

NB Lola thats a fair stint 8 hours a day I would be going more leisurely than that unless you have a reason to do that many hours a day. CP says 14 days via Trent & Mersey.

First full day of trip On the the Trent and Mersey Canal (Main Line - Great Haywood to Etruria), at Long Meadow Bridge No 87 (two thirds of the way between Great Haywood Junction and Stone Wharf). This is 16 miles, 7¾ furlongs and 5 locks and will take 7 hours 47 minutes. Second full day of trip On the the Trent and Mersey Canal (Main Line - Etruria to Harding's Wood), at Grange Pipebridge No 119D (half way between Toby Carvery Festival Park and Longport Wharf). This is 12 miles, 6½ furlongs and 15 locks and will take 7 hours 48 minutes. Third full day of trip On the the Trent and Mersey Canal (Main Line - Harding's Wood to Middlewich), at Wheelock Flight Top Lock No 59 (to avoid stopping in a flight of locks). This is 10 miles, 1¼ furlongs and 18 locks and will take 7 hours 30 minutes. Fourth full day of trip On the the Shropshire Union Canal (Middlewich Branch), at River Weaver Aqueduct. This is 13 miles, 6¾ furlongs and 15 locks and will take 8 hours 6 minutes. Fifth full day of trip On the the Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Main Line), at Marbury Lock No 10. This is 13 miles, 1¾ furlongs and 11 locks and will take 7 hours 48 minutes. Sixth full day of trip On the the Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Main Line), at Wales - England Border (two thirds of the way between Whixall Moss Junction and Blake Mere). This is 13 miles, 1¼ furlongs and 10 locks and will take 7 hours 48 minutes. Seventh full day of trip On the the Shropshire Union Canal (Llangollen Canal - Main Line), at Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (North end). (Turn here tonight or tomorrow morning).
This is 18 miles, 1 furlong and 2 locks and will take 7 hours 48 minutes. This is 13 miles, 1¾ furlongs and 12 locks and will take 7 hours 48 minutes. Eleventh full day of trip On the the Trent and Mersey Canal (Main Line - Harding's Wood to Middlewich), at Sunt's Bridge No 148 (to avoid stopping in a flight of locks) (just past Wheelock Flight Top Lock No 59). Yeah am wondering if it's too much too. Have decided to see how we go and maybe miss the Llangollen out as we only have two weeks out and back. We can finish the four counties for the third time, still enjoyable though. Alternatively, I might tray Black Country ring or a variation. I prefer rings as its something different every day.
