moving to the midlands

Thanks for the forum's tips for midland moorings.

My next challenge is getting there! Given the low freeboard at the bow of my boat I think I'll give the seven estuary a miss.

I can get craned out at Hilperton for a reasonable cost but the cost of a mobile crane at the other end is more than the cost of the haulage!

is there a fixed crane able to lift a boat in, anywhere between Sharpness and Wolverhampton that might be cheaper than the £600+ cost of a mobile?

Probably don't have time to do the long way round, although I'd love to

Find a marina or boatyard in the habit of booking a crane for a day to lift half a dozen boats in/out every couple of months, and they'll probably include you in their 'lift day' for a whole lot less than £600!

Ashwood and Brinklow Boat Services are two possible candidates, but there are plenty of yards who work this way. You'll just need to fit in with their timing.

Ashwood marina normally have a mobile crane booked for the first Monday of every month.

Teddesley boat company at Penkridge might still do crane outs with their permanently on-site crane. Their web site says that they do.
