................................Incidentally, we use a standard Screwfix thermostatic mixer with a ParMax 2.9 water pump. You might have a problem with a thermostatic mixer with a Paloma type water heater.

That's a good point actually, I was very apprehensive about fitting a new shower as our pressure from the Rinnai water heater is very low. In the end I went for the Mira Coda EV2 (from Screwfix) which I'm pleased to report works perfectly.
