Waterways Exhibition At Little Venice 1958

The CRT Online Archive contains these images, which I now realise probably all relate to the same event in 1958.....

We believe "Sickle" was probably displayed at this event, although the picture that shows this is not in this archive at the moment.

The speech maker is apparently Sir Reginald Kerr - Chairman of BWB from 1955 to 1962, (if you trust Wikipedia!)

 

The very smartly dressed boatman, in a kind of uniform, I believe I have seen reported elsewhere as Tom Sibley.

 

Does anybody know anything about this particular exhibition please, or know of any other photos related to it?

What a spectacularly turned out pair Stratford and Bideford are in many of the pictures in which they appear.

 

I didn't know Mr Sibley, but have been told this is also him sat on top of "Sickle" when I photographed it more than 40 years ago.

 

(Sorry, it's not very clear, I know).
