Raised dinette seating

For ages now we have sat at the dinette without being able to see the water.This modification works so well & also gives extra storage .

 

Ours is a Sea Otter boat but this idea, or similar could work on other makes.

The existing seat tops were slid out of their location & taken home where 2 rectangles ( 6.5" high ) were made in Ash faced 12mm ply. This was bought locally from Arnold Laver Timber World, it matches the existing panels on the boat.

 

Here they are in situ -

 

 

Flooring -
A piece of slip resistant ( spare from another job ) 18mm ply was cut fit snugly ..... 7" above the existing floor. It simply stands on 2 pieces , fixed with hinges as shown -

 

 

The existing table was raised 7" by buying a new 'fixing strip' , to match the existing . Can be bought from 'caravan accessories suppliers'.

This modification can easily be reverted back to factory specification.

Looks fab, very practical, more hight in storage, Better view what's not to like !.

Sometimes the Simple little additions,make such a difference.

Having a raised dinette has more advantages than a better view outside, your feet keep warmer in winter as the cold air is at floor level.
