:) Canal side Pubs/ yummy eateries :)

If any of you are passing and have a grumbling tummy and are in this area ..well the Rose & Crown Pub, in Zouch, Leics is a most wonderous happy place to stop for a lickle bit of nosh. Pikey and moi adn her friend > International Rescue Man lol , went off for a poodle in search of food and came upon this establishment

 

oh! my giddy aunt we all feasted very well indeedy, with moi having a most delicious scrummy Steak and Stilton pie,creamy mash lovely veggies, pikey had lambs liver and mash adn veggies and IRM had fish in beery batter and chips. Pikey and moi being greedy guts ordered the most scrumpcious desert moi has ever tasted so far.. a toffee sponge, toffee pieces and sauce and icecream, twas very moorish mmm... and moi ended up fininshing orf pikeys left overs ..Well moi has had the snottie grotties and needed extra substance

 

The people are so welcoming to everyone, especially us boaters lol as we were erm.... tidy but not dressed in our finery ..as we were all far to hungry to get dolled up, after doing a bit of boaty work. They were so sweet to moi... due to my desperate need for a burst of karoke and suggested that moi could just sing along with to the music channel that they had on, Yippeee!! twas so happy and although moi feet and toes were itching to get up dance .. a peep at pikey and IRM ..ahem!! with their looks of .. TREE..dont you ruddy dare LOL... so just sang along and jiggled my toes under the table hahahahaha.( nowt can keep a good woman down

 

The prices are really reasonable and the portions ... they were massive and the service was 110% we all had so much fun and a wonderful evening, making new friends.

 

The only strangeish thingy was when pikey ( call yersen a pal grr..) and IRM tried to do a runner and hide behind the hedge, whilst moi was still busy nattering ( as per usual hahaha) in the pub with everyone twas no good as moi spotted them laughing and giggling .. would not have worked anyway as moi is still a very fast runner ...Osain who ?? aint got a patch on moi

pikey and moi minus IRM..have just enjoyed a tummy filling breakfast, we only ordered the regular brekkie and cor blimey vicar, twas Marvelous ( moi is indeedy a bit of a boaty grub up establishment expert)..and so cheap. Spent time nattering to a woverly member of RBOA, who kindly invited us to their meeting...but alas we are unable to join them today.

 

PS. Tis an ideal place to hold a 'banteroo'

 

Now off to mini mooch around Long Eaton's charity shops

Another vote for the Rose and Crown, good food, friendly service and reasonable prices, not to mention the fab waterside location.

I used to buy Roy half a Green King Abbot and he would give you a ferry ride on the Mardi Gras across canal to your boat at end of evening.

It is some years since we have been in there. Would be 2009 I think when we stopped for a quick drink in passing and left 24 hours later.

 

Breakfast was really very good as well.

Oh and we moored in the beer garden about as close as we could get to the pub
