We need a mobile mechanic in Burscough

Hi guys,

 

I know I've not been on here for a while but I need your help!

Our engine mountings have perished at the front and dissappeared completely at the back... which means that the engine bounces up and down if we start her up...

 

So does anyone know of a good mechanic with a mobile jib (is that what they're called?) to lift the engine out for us and remount it? We're at Burscough on the L&L.

Need to source some replacement mounts!

What sort are they, wooden bearers/round mounts, steel bearers/square mounts?

Might get away with an A frame or a scaffold pole, rope and a twisting iron?

May have to lift engine out if cannot get to screws?

Not sure who's still got facilities in that area, might have to come down to Crooke or go onto Douglas?

Hi, yeah, we can't get to the mounts without lifting out the engine... we also can't move the boat as we can't run the engine without it rtying to leap out of the boat!

 

They were rubber mounts (now perished to nothingness)

If there is no one with the right equipment mobile in your area then maybe someone can give you a tow to a local boatyard to get it done?

Phone Mike on zero 7834616933 he is a good engineer and lives in Wigan but does a lot of work in the area he should be able to advise you.

We had a similar problem in the summer. Burscough Chandelry on the wharf were very helpful and found a mechanic for us. Its worth talking to them or Burscough Boat Company My link

Thanks, We've got Burscough boat builders poping out to have a look on Thurs and will get Mike out to see what he thinks too... fingers crossed someone'll be able to get her sorted for us so we can go out and play again!!
