Stopping the Water Getting In?

Featured Posts

Hi,

My boat has a stern which is a cross between a cruiser and semi-trad. The engine covers have a raised section that goes around each cover plate and this fits into a corresponding groove in the deck on which the cover fits. This seems to be where the water gets in and I was wondering if there was a way of improving this, ie, rubber seals etc?

Hi

Look into the grooves, these may have drainage holes that are blocked.

I think a lot of cruiser/semi-trad owners have a problem with the ingress of water into the engine 'ole.

I am sure one of the sages on here will know of a 'cure'.

I've a cruiser stern and the bilge is 100% dry - however it wasnt always that way!

The drain pipes that run from the groves under the deck boards can become blocked - a good length of stiff wire clears it easy enough.

The other problem I had was when the boat was unevenly balanced and listed very slightly - the water would always run toward the list (gravity!) and overflow the channel.
